Small town = small high school.
Our newspaper club is just starting up. We have enough articles as of now to produce one full paper, but we would like to keep a bunch of ideas stock piled so a day doesn't have to be wasted by coming up with new ones.
About my school: Again, small city*, I guess you should say. Our high school is located in the 2nd floor of a college building on a college campus. The reason being so, is because it is an early college high school.As we go through each semester, we gradually get more college classes (with real professors and college students!) and less high school classes. The students attending the school are not "brains" or "geniuses". We are in fact the typical mopey teenage acne painted youngins who fill up most other high schools. We just had lady luck by our side when the right day had come, and are very thankful of the opportunity we are given.
What I am looking for is "out of the box" article ideas that will make the reader ponder, be completely impressed/surprised/etc, or give them a surge of a strong emotion (hate/love/etc).
Could be informative, persuasive, position… whatever mood is best.
Could be serious, like world news but with a kick, or something silly, like a "How to:"
Give ideas as if you were an interested high school student, please. And no simple answers like "beauty" or "science and technology". We are looking to fill those types of categories with our articles.
As a matter of fact, here are the categories we currently have and some examples of articles:
Health and beauty (ie: sleep deprivation, acne)
Home and DIY (ie: healthy recipes and… crafts??? Which we haven't gotten to yet)
Music and entertainment (including school events)
School news (WEDONOTHAVESPORTS)
Science and technology (ie: Mac vs PC, Nook vs Kindle)
World news (too much happening around the world to quickly think of one and type it, so instead I decided to type this … acceptable?)
