Can I get into trouble for not covering a shift on my day off?

I work part time at a Barnes and Noble.
After working 3 eight hour shifts in a row, yesterday, on my day off, they called me and asked me if I could cover a 1-9pm shift.
I didn't answer, but they left me a voice mail.
I'm fairy sick, too. I was asleep when i got the call, and I never returned the call because I felt so crappy.
I don't work again til Wednesday, which is good cause I'm pretty sure I have the flu.
Is it bad that I never answered or called them back? I don't feel like dealing with it while I'm sick, plus there are many people who complain that they don't get enough hours.
Can I get into trouble for what happened?
