I want to get published. Is this a good way to start?

My ultimate goal is to publish a high fantasy (think Lord of the Rings) and have it appear on a shelf at your local Barnes and Noble. So I don't want the life of an e-book author that absolutely no one knows about (though I, of course, do not mind also publishing my book electronically). Even if the community of people who like my work consists of exactly 3 individuals, that's still more than what someone published through Amazon.com seems to have.

I was thinking that in order to guarantee myself a little bit of an audience (and see if I even stand a remote chance), is it a good idea to start out putting work on Wattpad (or similar sites)? Not the one I plan to publish but just another story I come up with that I don't care so much about. That way when I do get published I can already advertise to a group of people that have been showing consistent interest for however long.

I know publishers don't really like to publish work that is already available for free but since what I am trying to publish is something completely different from what I gave away I shouldn't encounter those types of problems, no? (And yes I know it's hard to get published regardless but I assure you that I am determined and not easily discouraged)
Added (1). I suppose another answer I am trying to ask is if this existing reader base will aid me in my path to publication?

I would like to work at Barnes and Noble one day. I literally go to Barnes and Noble all the time. I know the layouts of all the ones near me so well and I know how they work and everything. What kind of credentials do you need to work at a Barnes and Noble? I have only done volunteer work at my Library so far and am 20 years old. How much experience do they want? Also everyone there looks older. Do they not want younger people?

Things to do/Places to go/Courses to take?

Hi, I'm 17, Home Schooled, have no friends (for the past 5 yrs).
I have been told to go out more, but unsure what to do.
Also, I am in chronic pain, so cant do anything which involves too much activity; I need things which are calm and relaxing.
Can you recommend things to do, places to go, courses to take?

Trying to get a job?

I applied for about 10 places or more. But I called Barnes and Noble literally 3 days after applying and they said they're going to call everyone a week & half later or whatever. I called on the 14th of July and it's now the 30th. I don't know if I should call them or what?

I've never had a job while in high school due to be in so many sports and clubs. I graduated high school June 1st and I've been searching for a job since then. I have no work experience, but I have volunteered a lot when I was in high school…

I keep finding bugs on my couch?

A few days ago, I found a small cockroach on my couch cushion. I didn't think anything of it and killed it. Then I found a centipede. And today I found a silverfish. The couch isn't plastic or leather, it's wool. Is it possible there's bug living in it? What should I do? Spray with Raid?

I would like to work for Barnes and Noble but I have never had an actual job before. I have helped out at community services but that's about it. I'm wondering what I can say or do to stand out so that they would consider me for a job. I am a girl.

What should I wear to the job interview? What kind of questions would they be asking? Just anything that could help me, thank you.

Is the first pretty little liars book appropriate for summer reading going to 7th grade?

So I just bought pretty little liars the book on my nook for summer reading cuz it's totally last minute and as I'm reading it contains bad words like slut and ***** and talks about sex. I'm going to seventh grade I really hope it's fine cuz I just wanna get the project over with. Would I get in trouble for reading this. Is it too inappropriate?

Meeting someone:. Pressure of settling?

I'm 30
I'll admit I'm getting up there and I for the life of me cannot find a man.
I've had relationships. Long ones and short ones and they all have been painful and wrong.
I have pretty high standards because of my past failures and I have been single for 2 years trying to work on myself so that I can bring the best me to someone.
I have a good career in the medical field. And I am very active.
Actually I do fitness competitions and am trying to get my pro card
Sometimes I feel that the reason why I can't meet someone is because of the judgements passed upon me bc of my hobby. Even tho it's a respected sport sometimes I feel that might be the reason
But then again I just started competing a few years ago so don't know how to explain the prev times of not being able to meet someone
Guys are extremely intimidated by me. Not to sound shallow or stuck up but that's what I hear. I hear " you're too beautiful, smart, good career guys can't work with that"
Well damn is that everyone?
I've tried online dating. Total failure. Lots of creeps.
Guys at the gym don't approach. I try to put myself in situations so they can talk to me for example at Barnes and noble Home Depot, and nothing.
My next text is meet ups for volunteering or singles night.
Maybe I'm too picky:( all I know is that I would like a man who is fit and attractive with a good heart. Money means nothing.
I did meet a young man 22 who I fell in love with. It was the happiest I have ever been but too young.

Baby Chinese water dragons - Just how much attention do they need?

My birthday has recently passed and a family member got me a present. You guessed it, a baby water dragon! I have named her Ping. I have had scorpions, snakes, hermit crabs, cats, dogs, and birds, but this is a bit new. I've noticed that the snakes, scorpions, and hermit crabs needed less attention than our furry mammals. But, I've also never had a baby one of those animals. So, I'm wondering if I should give it a lot of attention. I usually take her out of her cage 2-3 times a day so she can get used to handling, but she constantly likes to explore, which I'm nervous about, because of all of the nooks and crannies in my house that I can't get to easily. Also, on a side note, what do I do about her crickets, which are constantly finding some teleportation device from the cage to my ceiling?

I applied to Barnes and Nobles a week and a half ago and I really really want the job so I was going to go into the store and talk to one of the employees because there is nothing I can do and I really want to be hired. I don't know what I should say. Help.

Best place to buy books?

I know there's Barnes and Noble and stuff, but it's kind of far away from my house. I buy books a lot seeing how I love reading but it's hard to buy them when the place is far away?! Any place else I can buy books? Or websites or something?

Do you have to use a certain envelope for overseas mail?

I know about the stamps but I was wondering if you had to use a specific envelope, like the standard 1oz ones. It's just a letter and I have special stationary and envelopes I got from Barnes and Noble awhile back. The envelope is a bit smaller and has some trim around it. I wanted to know if I could just use that envelope instead of a standard plain white one. Xx

Why did my preferred dns amd alternate dns randomly change the other day? - 1

I found this forum on the internet the other day to change my dns to allow videos to load on any of my browsers because all of a sudden most adobe flash videos kept loading and wouldnt play except for youtube and those videos loaded perfectly 2 weeks ago. I changed my dns because i noticed it had changed because i tried uninstalling and re installing adobe doing a clean re installation. I than checked my plugins in chrome, one of several browsers i have and checked the internal.adobe flash to see if it was disabled. It was enabled and i have the internal and external flash or something liked that so i made sure those were enabled or disabled and the videos still would not load when they did on my nook tablet connected through my router. Than i tried viewing those videos in compatibility view on internet explorer with no luck. I have Avast, malwarebytes, spyware removal program, and tdskiller. No threats detected. I did avast boot time scan so thats why i found out it might be that my dns settings were not open when i researched on the internet and as soon as i changed the preferred and alternate than checked the box obtain dns, all those videos worked again. They were not working on chrome, IE, firefox, and safari. Why did my dns get changed, and why were those videos not loadin 2 weeks ago but youtube worked perfectly? Could a virus go undetected even with all those reputable security programs? I only have one virus protection program cuz i know not to have 2 running
Added (1). I even had my firewall disabled. Funny thing was that i could still play facebook games but i think that runs on shockwave flash and not adobe.

Where is the battery located on a Vento Phantom F4?

I have a Vento Phantom F4 motor scooter. The battery is dead, and I need to charge it. However, I cannot seem to find a battery anywhere on the machine. I have checked every nook and cranny, every compartment, and under/inside the body, and cannot find anything that looks remotely like a battery, or a space where one would go.
