What's the best website to order college course books for cheap?

I'm looking for a place that offers rentals or used books. Some of my books are just discs/access codes because I'm taking some online classes to work with my work schedule. I'm a part time student and right now the cost of my books from Barnes & Noble used comes to almost $500.

Electronic device advice?

I have a kindle fire 1st gen that is starting to crap out on me.so while I wait for the kindle to die, i'm keeping my eye out on all the new electronics so I know what I want. The problem was I bought the kindle fire just a few months after it came out, before anyone had any major issues with it and before amazon had time to tweak it

So for the replacement I think ive narrowed it down to three devices (all within $30 of eachother)
-Apple iPod touch
-google nexus 7
-samsung chromebook
(I know what your thinking, "these are three entirely different devices")

But no, they would all work great for what I would use it for, but they each have their pros and cons

-iPod-has small screen and an awful keyboard IMO, but is the most portable, is the most reliable and has best reviews.

-nexus 7- one of the most popular adroid tablets, okay reviews, better keyboard, touch display, has the same crappy charger as the nook and kindle, less portible.

-Chormebook- big screen, a real physical keyboard, doesnt use the crappy mobile websites of youtube and facebook etc, frequent updates, doesnt slow down over time, not very portible, hasn't been around very long so no one knows how it good it 'll be after using it every day a year or two.

I would have it for the next 2-3 years, until I get a real laptop for college.
Would use it mainly for:
-Web browsing
-watching netflix and youtube
-social networking
-very occasional games/apps (like cut the rope, asphalt 7 etc.)

What would you reccomend? An iPad would be great but is too expensive.

P.S. I am 15 and don't have a job. I would most likely buy it with my own allowence or maybe go half and half with my parents on christmas/birthday.

I need to do a book report during summer vacation for school. The book that I am doing the report on is "The Hunger Games." I own all three books of the series, but I can't find my copy. I found the other two books but "The Hunger Games" is missing. I have a Nook HD but I refuse to buy the book when I already own it.So, what I'm asking is, does anyone have the book on Nook format that I could use?

My Nook Tablet Won't Charge?

So, my nook tablet is my favorite piece of technology and I have it with me all the time. But, last night I experienced a problem I have never had before.My battery got down to 5% so I hurried to plug it up to it's charger, because I was in the middle of doing something. Usually, as soon as I plug it in the warning will go away and I can resume whatever I was working on it while it charges. But the warning stayed and in a few moments, my nook powered down. The charger was lit up orange, but every time I would try to turn it on, the message would appear asking me to please connect my nook to my charger. Eventually, it came back on due to me wiggling the charger a bit. But when I clicked on the little icon to show me how much it was charged, it said it wasn't charging even though it was connected. With a little more wiggling, it resumed charging.
A few moments ago, my nook's battery was running low again.So, I hooked it up. But the same thing happened. Now, my nook is off and it won't turn back on, insisting that I connect to my charger. The charger is lit up, as usual.
I've read that if I just wait a few hours, it will come back on. Does that work? And is my problem with the charger or with the tablet itself?
I won my nook in a writing contest so there is no warranty on it. I don't mind buying another charger because they are pretty cheap on amazon, but I can't afford to just buy a new tablet.
I really would just like some sort of solution to this, so any real help is appreciated!

Why do many people in the coffee beverage industry ignore their tippers?

I'm a barista at Caribou. I ALWAYS thank a customer for leaving a tip, even if it's only the 9 cents from their change. Just a quick "thanks" does the trick most of the time. None of my coworkers ever acknowledge when people tip, and out of the many coffee places I've gone to, only one girl has ever thanked me for leaving a tip (I always leave at least a dollar, so it's not like I'm giving them spare pennies). One time I went to a Starbucks in Barnes & Noble; they didn't have a tip jar so I handed the girl a dollar--she just took it and said nothing.

For me, I always thank tippers because then they will probably tip again.It's just smart, especially since tipping is pretty much optional. Being a coffee shop worker, I always thank them, and I just don't know why almost everybody else I know just ignores them.

Cheap, big 7.9 + tablet?

I need a big (7.9"+) but cheap tablet under £200. I've been looking at the Acer Iconia A1 (the Android version of the iPad Mini). That size is fine, but really I'd prefer bigger.
Nothing more than £200. I can't "stretch" my budget.
Cancel out the Nook HD+ too because although it seems great, it stutters greatly even when browsing the internet.

Where can I buy cheap textbooks online safely?

I'm going to be starting college in less than 3 weeks now and I still have not purchased any of the required textbooks. I really don't know where to look since I don't know anyone that has gone to college that can help me. I need to know where I can buy cheap textbooks online that is a safe site and not a scam or anything like that. I've checked Barnes and noble as well as amazon but they're still very expensive and I was looking for something cheaper than that preferably used. Can anyone please help me?

Is a background check a good thing?

So I applied at Barnes and Noble and two hours later the manager called for me to come in for an interview the next day. I did and it went great. He told me he'd send me a background check through email and because he was off the next day he'd get with me next week. Now its Tuesday and I haven't heard anything. I'm super nervous. I knew things went well but he also had other candidates. But for the Fact that he sent me a background check is that a good sign? I'm no criminal.So should I call and check or wait a couple more days? I don't want to seem too hasty because it only has been two business days.

My nook wont charge or turn on?

I have a nook hd 8gb snow, and it is not charging. I tried the trick to plug into the wall overnight then into a pc for 4-5 hours and power and n button thing and it didn't work. I even tried to press all buttons at the same time. I basically tried everything on the nook fourms.does anyone know anything the can possibly help

Placed an order Thursday no tracking updates?

There are no updates besides for the ups one that a shipping label has been created and for the USPS one that no information is avaliable. The lady on customer service for barnes and noble apologized for the lack of updates but really it's just speculation on why? So the big question is where are my packages?
Added (1). When I talked to a customer service woman she apologized for the lack of updates but told me the packages should be here by Wednesday and to come back if they weren't.

How to prepare driftwood for a planted aquarium?

My boss owns a patch of land up in the mountains with tons of manzanita in it. I asked if she could bring me a couple of dead branches so I could use them in my planted aquarium, which she did.

The pieces she brought came with a lot of texture and character, I tried boiling one piece first to release the tannins and loosen up the bark, but all it did was make the wood dark and mushy.

I tried sanding down another piece, but it's rough since there's still a lot of dead bark on it.how exactly do I go about smoothing down the wood to a fine clean texture like the driftwood you see at pet stores? are they sanded down first then boiled, or vice versa?

What tools are necessary for preparing and cleaning driftwood? I bought 180 and 220 grit sandpaper, but the process is a lot harder than I thought. The driftwood I see for sale is cleaned all the way to the core, from every nook and cranny.

Where can I buy a road map!

I know that this question seems a little ridiculous, but I seriously cannot find a road map. Everything seems to be an Atlas everywhere I look. I have checked Amazon, my local stapes and Barnes and Nobles. I cannot find anything other than Road Atlases. Anyway my Dad drives a truck, and he refuses to get a GPS. Thus he needs to get new maps.

If anybody knows a place either online or a store please share. I am from Central New Jersey if that helps. Otherwise my Dad is looking for the Maps of the following counties they are sold in 3's Ocean, Monmouth, Middlesex Counties. Summerset, Hudson, and Mercer Counties, and Lastly Union, Hudson, and Essex Counties. All counties are in New Jersey.

I do not expect anybody to find these for me, but if anybody has any idea where I can find maps of these areas, not necessarily grouped together or anything, just up to date tangible paper maps!

What could be wrong with my Hermit Crabs?

I just brought them from Petsmart today, I kept them fairly in ideal conditions all the way home. Had the habitat already set up, and it's Eco Earth substrate moistened, 80/80 on my Temp/Humid gages.

Heating the habitat using a 40W Red Glass Nocturnal bulb. They walked around for a brief second, then tried to climb into a corner. I tried setting each of them in the food dish to encourage them to eat, and then I set them near the water and salt water dishes to see if they would like a cool bath.

They still continued to look for a corner. One of them is currently at the back of a Log hut, and the other one has found a nook around the side of the salt water dish, and both of them haven't moved since I brought them in about 2 hours ago.

Suggestions? Tips? Please be courteous when answering. I did the best I can to study about hermit crabs and have everything perfect before bringing them in.So I am curious what's going on.
Added (1). Petsmart did keep them in good condition. I checked their temp / humidity gages myself.they had the readings of 80 F, and 85% humidity.

Best cheap 9 or 10 inch tablet with camera?

I was looking to get a tablet to take on work trips to take the place of my laptop.No keyboard is necessary, just need it to browse webpages, play a few games, watch some netflix, and webcam with the kids. I was looking at the Nook HD+ (cause it is only $149 and has google play now) but it does not come with a camera. I would prefer to not get a 7 inch tablet because I want a bigger screen for the movies.

My Fathers Nook HD doesn't charge?

When I Plug it in and leave it for 2 hours to charge the battery is 100% full. But after 2 minutes of use the battery is Dead. And when I plug it in again it shows that it is fully charged. Please Reply.

Why is this book so expensive?

I was looking for books with good messages to read to my son. I ran across "One Dad. Two Dad. Brown Dad. Blue Dad." I liked the description so I went to purchase it on Amazon. They had it in paper back for $95! I then tried to find it for sale using google shop. A $36 used paper back is the cheapest I can find. And, Barnes and Noble has it new for $215! I'm just curious. Does anyone know why this book is so damn expensive???

What do you do when you see your teachers in public?

I was at barnes and nobles enjoying myself and then i saw my crazy history teacher and i started freaking out, and went t my dad and we went to the art section because i know she thinks art is stupid.and we waited still she left the front of the store for us to buy our things.It was a really stressful experience, because early in the school year we disagreed on something big in front of the whole class.sorry if im over reacting but she hates me and i am freaked out by her

I think my husband has a spending problem, do u think I am wrong?

So my husband loves electronics! Most times when new electronics are introduced he wants it. We both agreed on saving for a house but his spending is out of control. For example this year he changed his phone 8 times! He went from regular droid phone, to regular iPhone to iPhone4 to iPhone 5 then to some other Samsung phone now to the new Samsun galaxy 4s!!! Like enough is enough!!! Then when the new wii U hit the stores he begged and begged for days for 3 weeks for this stupid wii u! I told him this is the last electronics for the year and he agreed. He got it, he only played with this for 3 weeks and now it's sitting collecting dust. Then 3 weeks ago he tells me that he no longer wants his nook that he was to sell it because he wants to get the Samsung tablet. Omg!!! Like really… And he changed his tablets 6 times this year! He went from regular iPad to iPad mini to galaxy tablet to droid to nook. Today he tells me wants the iPad mini again! We been arguing for the pass 5 days about this. He wants me to give in and say go buy it. I told him he has a spending disorder, he gets bored fast with items then he sells on eBay and then he pays the difference on his new electronics. I don't know know what to do. He apologizes all the time for his stupidity, but the next day it's the same ***! We went to target today and we passed by the electronic section then he brings up the tablet again! Do u think he needs help?
