Why are you suppose to keep your slippers on in Barnes and Noble?

I was told by an Barnes and Noble employer that 'Miss, please keep your shoes on.' Without hesitation, I did. I was just sitting on the bench near the magazines window with my legs crossed on the bench.It's not that I was bothering anyone. I've also been to this Barnes and Noble many times and this is the first time that I've ever been told to keep my shoes on by a lady employer.

Can you read books without buying them at Barnes & Noble?

I was at Barnes & Noble the other day looking for a specific book, and I noticed some big plush chairs and couches and tables in a corner where people were just relaxing and reading books. I'm wondering if you can just go to Barnes & Noble, grab a book right off the shelf, and then sit down and read it? I realize that's what a lot of people may be doing but are you ALLOWED to do that?

I just bought a leather bound gold leafed Charles Dickens book for 20 dollars. I took it out of the plastic and… I decided within about a minute I didn't want it. Will the store accept it for return since I took it out of the plastic? I've never returned anything before in my life, so I am not sure how this works. My NOOK screen turned black?

(NOOK 1st edition, by the way)
Okay, so I left my NOOK charging overnight like usual, and when I woke up to use it, the screen had turned black, and the touch screen shortly after.
I've already tried taking the battery out for 20-30 minutes, holding the power button down, putting the battery back in, plugging it in to the wall and the computer, and nothing seems to be working!
I did notice that when I had plugged it in to the computer WHILE the battery was out, the charge light came on, but that's it.It turned back off after I put the battery back in.
Can someone please help?

Dog running away from and barking at nothing?

My dog has always been happy and healthy, very friendly, and never barks. For the last few days, he has been acting crazy. He never lets us leave him alone, and even follows us down the hall, where he has never been allowed to go. He doesn't sleep at night, and instead wanders around the house growling.My parents leave me home alone a lot, because I am 16, and so I find his behavior unnerving. Right now he is wandering around the house with his tail between his legs, as though he is running from something. He keeps staring off into space and growling, and then running away. Then right now he came and started sitting on my feet, "guarding" me I guess, or just looking for comfort. He keeps turning his head as though he is watching something move through the house and I find his behavior very unsettling. I have checked through the entire house thoroughly multiple times, and I am sure that there is no one here but my dog and I. I am not sure why he is behaving this way, and I wonder if perhaps there is an animal outside, possibly another dog, that he is trying to communicate with or investigate. On a side note, I thought there possibly could have been an intruder because I heard and saw doors opening and closing on their own, but again I have checked every nook and cranny and all the doors and windows are locked. Thanks for the help, and please suggest something helpful, like that my dog is stressed or something, and not some weird juju stuff.

Tablet recommendations?

I am considering buying a tablet. I would prefer not to buy an iPad (don't like Apple), but I do like how reactive the touchscreen is (as opposed to other tablets I've tried).

However, I do like the HD Nook and Kindle. I am also considering the HP Slate. What do people like?

Nook HD+ vs iPad vs Other Tablets?

If my local Target has the Nook HD+ 32GB on sale for $179 ($299 retail), should I jump on that? I don't have a tablet and was contemplating an iPad, but i honestly just need something to do the following: eread, email, word processing, internet. I don't play many games.

Why aren't we doing anything about the technology taking over our jobs?

For the last decade we had so many unemployment because companies replaced man with machine

I was in Target last month and they had these little machines were you can do your own scanning and pay (obviously its a plan to save money and not hire employees)

and what about manufacturing jobs, those jobs are now done by 3-D printers and other machines.
that's millions of factory workers unemployed

and what about Netflix? there used to be Blockbuster and all these video rental stores which employed people and now they can't do that anymore because everybody just sits home and watches it.
Same thing goes for libraries; the electronic books and nooks are making them obsolete

All this stuff is happening but nobody cares, everybody just watches there shows and drinks their starbucks.In other countries they are less sheep and they will protest and do something about it.
Now Im an American but I've been to other countries and know many cultures and the thing is, is that we are so sheep and dull, and we don't join in the fight that will give us our justice and respect

Does one bad review really overshadow several good ones?

About 2 years ago, I published my first book which was orginially written about a year or so, before it was published. Anyways, I have sold several copies with Amazon, Kindle & Nook.It's not a Best Seller, but I am still pretty happy with it. However, when I ask people to view my Amazon page they see my 1 bad review, than no one is interested in the multiple great reviews I do have. Although the good reviews, are on my personal site (for some reason people prefer it.) Www.wix.com/eleven11eleven11/eleveneleve… which is where the reviews are.So my question is this, is 1 bad review where the reader claims they didn't buy the book, they "borrowed" it, and claim that i reviewed my own book ( I never did. This is my only Amazon review.) So what does everyone think is 1 review, one person's opinion, truly so terrible, & such a huge deal?

Dis-Functional Family?

This is not mispelled, however its spelled this way purposely. I know traditionally that dysfunction is spelled with a "y," I however titled my book with "dis", as in "this."
Anyways, moving on.It's currently available on Amazon.com, Nook & Kindle. Sorry for rambling, my question is this: is this topic interesting? Should i continue my series? Would anyone here mind reading a sample possibly, & offering an opinion? A quick synopsis: Dis-Functional Family by Ashley Ford, is a reality based comedy surrounding a girl whose family is uprooted by their aunt's death, and move to a little town in the middle of nowhere. Here, they meet a group of misfit people whom introduce them to their way of life; which is hilarious & highly unusual. Thanks i appreciate the answers! Please dont critisize me, this is my 2nd book and i'm trying really hard to get it out there.

I have been looking at kindle fires, nooks and ipads but I'm not sure which is best. I need a space in my room for.?

Pads and stuff. I'm 13 and obviously a girl. I have a very small room. I'm redoing it too. I don't know the exact measurements but as long as we're not counting out ragiously huge room as big, mines about medium I guess. Almost small. If it is medium it's ver very small medium, lol. Anyways, I need a spot to put pads, tampons, ect. I live alone with my dad because my mom died.My room is kinda set up like this:
When your walk into the doorway you're looking straight ahead at a window.
If you take one or two steps and turn your head to the right is my closet.
If you keep going straight and take another step is the corner of my bed and at the end of my be is a makeup table/area and vanity. When you follow my bed (it's a day bed against the wall) you end at the other wall in the corner. Then there's a television center, and on the other wall (the same one the door is in) is the dresser.
So where is a good place to put my pads and stuff? I don't really have any nooks and crannies and stuff… very plain room that my dad comes in often. You don't even really have to read all of that, just say where you keep your stuff?

Ok so about 2 years ago my first book eleven eleven by ashley ford, was released on amazon, and has since been picked up by kindle & nook. Its a story of a young girl comin from a rare blood line of witches, who longs to be mortal. She abandons her magic and moves in with humans, only to meet an odd boy late one night. They quickly fall in love but each are haboring secrets; shes a witch and hes a vampire. Neither knows the truth about the other, but soon people begin vanishing and dying, and loralie becomes their only suspect because of her involvement with the victims. Also a sadistic vampire from samsons past sets his sights on her as his own.
should i continue this series? honest opinions please.

So yesterday i went to the mall with my friend and we went into Victoria's secret. She took a bunch of stuff into the dressing room and then came out and we left.So we're sitting in the car and i'm telling her how i want to go check out Barnes and noble when she pulls a fricking silk robe out from under her skirt!!! Then she precedes to take about four more things out from under her clothing.Im just looking at her like WTF. Half of me is like i cant believe you just shoplifted and the other half of me is so impressed that she managed to hide all that stuff under a fitted skirt and tank top.It wasn't evan noticeable. But yea apparently she's a pro when it comes to stealing and shes been doing it for years and never been caught.So i'm curious, is she just really good/lucky at it or is it that easy to shoplift?

What are some ideas to turn a bunk bed into a reading nook?

My sister and I share a room and each of us has our own bunk bed. Since we each only use one bunk, I wanted to turn my unused bunk into a reading nook. (the bottom bunk.) It's currently situated in the corner of our room and is a pretty small, basic, wooden Ikea bunk bed. What are some cute and inexpensive ways to turn the bottom bunk into a reading nook? I'm a teenager so I have a limited budget and I would love it if it used materials I already had. (I have access to lots of fabric and a sewing machine so sewing is not an issue.) I've already looked at some ideas on pinterest, but all seem to involved a different bed/room setup. Thanks in advance!

I can't get my guinea pig out from hiding- help!

I'm worried because last night my guinea pig escaped and is now hiding in a little nook that's part of the toilet.It's probably wet back there and I want to know that she's safe. I put tomatoes, an orange, and hay out for her in a box in the bathroom as well as water and her hide. How do I get her to come out! My only other option would be to rip the toilet out which isn't happening.

Why does Barnes&Noble double charge for book purchases, unauthorized?

FACTS
Bought a leatherbound book for the first time from B&N, and it double charges without notice!

Payed with paypal; which is connected to my debit card.

I googled this issue and there are others with this problem but only for ebooks and gift cards. Neither of which I used.

STORY
The book was about 50$ so in my bank statement the same book was charged twice. A grand total of 100$ gone just like that. I'm a college student so that is a lot of money from personal savings. 3 days later it the 50$ was refunded.my bank account was almost emptied. Without my notice!

How can they take my money without authorization! I feel that this is completely unethical.It should be informed to the buyer, if they are going to double charge

How expensive will keeping a cornsnake be?

I have a sister who used to have a couple corn snakes, and I absolutely loved them. I wasn't observant at the time and now that I want one as my own I'm a bit clueless. I'm wanting a Blizzard and I think they're 60$, or around that so I'm just left to wonder how expensive it is for the heating lamp and bulbs, the tank(and what kind of tank?), the flooring(and which floor is best for a corn snake, I hear aspen shaving are good but I don't know) as well as the rocks and little nooks the snake will want to hide in. I also want to know which age I should get, if I get one when it's a baby, juvenile, adult, etc and what to feed my snake depending on it's size. I'd also like to know how time consuming taking care of one may be, and how often to clean the tank, and some handling tips whenever I'm holding him/her. Oh, and some tips on convincing my parents on actually letting me get one, lol. I know I'll probably get some info.from my sister, but I'd just like to ask here first for a little more information.

Chances cops will come to my house?

Today I went to a local barnes and noble and took two packs of magic the gathering cards. I opened them in the store cafe and walked out clean. I deposited the cases in the trash. Now I'm worried that cameras may have seen me and if they will use cameras in the parking lot to track my liscense plate. I am so so so scared and feel so guilty I can't even sleep. I don't know what to do and am getting more and more paranoid by the second that cops will show up. What are the chances cops will come? What should I do? Please no stupid answers saying I'm bad and stuff because I know it was a stupid mistake and I have so much guilt I can't even sleep anymore it hasn't even been a day yet since I took it.

My little brother and I were at a local Barnes and nobles. I had bought a duel magic the gathering pack while he had took two intro packs and opened them in the cafe without paying. We walked out and nobody seem to notice or cared.Is there a chance cops will show up? There were probably cameras in the parking lot so they might have our liscense plate. Is it bad I still keep going back to my community college?

I am a 20 year old guy and was taking classes at a community college for two years. I have now transferred to a university. But every Friday instead of going to my university to study I instead go and study at the community college. I prefer to study there instead. I just like the atmosphere better, I like to still say hi or chat with some of the math tutors, I like to have eat lunch at the Thai place or other restaurants around it and go to the Barnes and Noble right next to the place or go for a walk around.

I realize I am somewhat attached to the place.Is this bad? If it is, how do I stop feeling this way?

The samsung galaxy s pen is a capacitive stylus and the Nook HD+ works with capacitive stylus's. But I couldn't find out for sure if it is 100% compatible.

Does intense nose picking permanently alter the nostrils?

I'm 18. I admit, I sometimes pick my nose. I know, it's a filthy, revolting habit. I am disgusted with myself.
Some months ago I picked my nose so much that I thought my nostril(s) size had permanently altered.In recent days I have been intensely picking my nozzle - twisting and turning my fingers up there - reaching for every nook and cranny - it is now sore and scabeous on the interior.My nostril(s) also look(s) dilated.
Will the dilation go, or be permanent? Can picking the nose cause permanent alterfication to the nostrils?

Are novels from the Barnes and Noble Classics Series authentic copies?

I want to buy a few classics, and on the Barnes and Noble website, it states the books are part of their "Classics Series."
But, I noticed they also have introductions and notes within the pages by different authors aside from the original author.
I JUST want an original, un-touched copy with no reconstruction done to them.
Is this a good series? Here are two examples:

Is a B&N Nook worth it?

I was walking around Barnes and Noble today, and they had their Nook tablets on sale for $129, so i bought one.It is still unopened in the box, and I am considering returning it. I really cant decide.My mom doesn't think i need it, so she thinks i should. I have and Iphone 5, just got a macbook pro for graduation, have a high-end desktop I bought when I got my IT internship, and have the black-and-white kindle that gets free 3g everywhere, but is really slow. I bought it because my college has a barnes and noble on campus and they say that they offer ebooks, and I figured since Nook is B&N's tablet, that would provide the best compatibility.To be honest, Im not sure I need the tablet since my laptop can do everything it can, but I figured I would ask the community. If I do not get a response, It will be returned tomorrow.

Is this an appropriate summer reading book for school?

I'm a junior going into senior year and one of my summer reading requirements is a book of my choice.

I've been having trouble finding a book I would want to read and as I was on the Barnes & Noble website, I came across the book The Face on the Milk Carton by Caroline B. Cooney.

It seems like a very interesting book but then I read the age range and all it says is "12 years".

So, I just wanted to know if it's still an age appropriate book for me to read. Because one of the requirements is that the book should be age appropriate, meaning no books like 50 Shades of Grey but also no "easy reads."
