My nook color won't charge? - 1

I just bought a nook color used from a lady and it does not charge even when I plug it into the wall charger. I went to Walmart and bought a brand new USB port and wall charger for it but it still won't charge! The n will not change colors and whenever its plugged into the wall charger it will say not charging. When I plug it into the computer the micro USB port the computer will recognize the nook and the nook will go into usb mode but besides that nothing else.

What is the best workout DVD?

I am a fitness maniac, I go to the gym basically everyday along with running and doing other things like ballet and yoga. I only eat healthy, all natural food (as I am allergic to gluten and processed sugar) so my diet is not what needs changing. What does need changing is my motivation which is practically gone. I have a gift card for Barnes and Noble and I know they sell workout DVDs there and I am going to buy one today.
Any suggestions on which one I purchase?
I heard Jillian Michaels is really good so maybe recommend me one of her best ones. I'm looking for total body toning in these videos as I am leaving to go to Florida in 38 days, counting. I really want to look my best.

Confused if we're actually dating or not?

I'm a little confused if we're dating or just "hanging out"… since we haven't clarified it and they both seem to be the same thing in my mind.

1. We met over the summer at my friend's shore house. She is good friends with my friend and his girlfriend. We didn't get to know each other too well, but we did flirt with each other a little.

2. Last weekend, she came to visit my friend and his girlfriend at my college. She ended up giving me her number and wanted to see me, so one of the days on the weekend, I guess we technically hung out. I was around her with other people and such a little bit, but at one point just the two of us walked to get coffee, then we walked around barnes and noble, and finally I gave her a tour of our college campus.

3. Last Tuesday, she texted me if I wanted to hang out. We ended up meeting up at a large mall and then we had dinner together. Just the two of us. After we finished eating, I told her I had a great time and she said the same. I told her we should do something again and she said definitely. Then she tells me about a Christmas party and tells me she'd like for me to come to it. After the first time we got together, we were texting each other that we had a good time and want to do something again. Also texted good night… but she said "it was really nice going out and I'm glad we could do it :)"

3. She ended up calling me instead of texting last night… we spoke for roughly 30 minutes about various stuff. Then she asks me if I'll be at my school or at home next weekend (weekend of December 2nd). We talk about that and I tell her that I'll come visit her in the city and we'll do something together.

4. Again last night she starts texting me later in the night. We ended up texting for almost 3 hours, but while texting she asks me if we're hanging out tomorrow or next weekend. I told her I thought she said next weekend, but I asked if she'd like to do something tomorrow as well.So now we're getting together tomorrow too! It will probably be dinner and walking around at some shops. While texting her about this, I told her next weekend I would still come to be with her. She says "haha awww okay good!"

I want to ask for an ereader this Christmas, but I don't know which one would be the best option. I want to just read books, nothing else. I have heard both good and bad things about the Nook Glowlight and the Kindle Paperwhite.Do you have one of these ereaders? What do you like and what don't you like? What is Amazon's return policy regarding the Kindle? And what is Barnes and Noble's return policy regarding the Nook? Also do you think that Barnes and Noble is doing well, because I don't want to get a Nook and then in a year or so find out B&N are closing their stores.

Closet vs Book Nook?

I am really interested in having a book nook in my room. I do not have walk in closet, one a regular 2 door closet. (Like this

) Currently, my closet holds a bunch of unused clothes and junk, 80% of which can be disposed of or stored in another location. Most of the clothes that I own that should be hung up are folded in my drawers anyway. I just got a Nook Color for my birthday and I love it! I find Barnes and Noble prices to be very expensive in the store and online. I find it ridiculous they are charging $17.00 for some of these books. That is almost as expensive as a hardback and ebooks are much cheaper to publish! Black friday shopping?

Im going to try and go to staples for black friday this year to get a nook cuz they have them on sale and no where else has nook tablets on sale i checked walmart target barnes n nobles only the simple touch is discounted at those locations so i wanna go to staples anyways my questions is from people that do black friday any stores but staples specifically how bad is it ?? i know toy stores are a mob scean but staples dont have toys so idk how bad a place like staples would be is it just as bad? how early should i go they open at 5am thanks

Why don't cribs have roofs on them?

My 12 month old always drops his bottles behind his crib (it's in a nook in his bedroom) and they're hard to retrieve.Do they make cribs with tops on them? Something that he can't throw things out of? If they don't, why not? If they do, where can I get one?

Nook HD vs Kindle Fire HD? - 2

I'm looking into buying one of them, but I'm not sure which one is best for me. I like that the Kindle Fire has a front facing camera and a larger app store, but the Nook HD has a better screen and is a little lighter. I would mostly be reading on it, but I would also be looking at magazines, playing games and possibly watching videos. If you've owned both, which do you prefer and why? Also, which online store did you like better?

I'm only looking for answers from people who have owned or tried BOTH.
Added (1). I'm not interested in the Nexus 7. I've read reviews that the Google Store app isn't fitted to the tablet and I recently saw that many people have had problems with the screen.

Upright freezer blowing warm air?

I know this is a commonly asked question, but this has a new spin. The top freezer part of my fridge/freezer was blowing room temp air and all the food was defrosted. I read some stuff online about possible fixes.My first step was checking out the back to see if the coils were on the back or bottom (bottom by the way).To check, I moved the fridge unit out of its wall nook, checked, then put it back. After, I opened the freezer again and it was blowing cold air suddenly. I didn't touch anything. I just moved the unit 3 feet forward, then back to its original spot. WTF could I have accidentally done to fix it? How do I make sure it doesn't happen again?

Its an old GE, coils underneath the unit, and behind a panel in the back of the freezer. The fridge is operating at normal temp.

Added (1). New development: i walked into the kitchen and the thing had shut down entirely.no sound.no fan.no air.the light still worked though.then i bumped into it, and it clicked on again? is it time to buckle down and get a new one?

Kindle (2012) vs Nook Simple Touch?

I bought the kindle (no glowlight) for 44 dollars, but now the nook simple touch (no glowlight) is also on sale for $50. I don't know if I should return the kindle for the nook. What is your experience with it, and what do you recommend?

Was at Barnes and Noble today. Brought a book up to the counter for a price check and decided to buy. The cashier was cute with good cleavage, the oustanding detail was that her bra was showing and it was leopard print.as in the actual top of her cups were poking up.
I asked, "Is today a leopard print kind of day?", with my eyes glancing towards the article in question. "Oh, this is just something I threw on today" she replies. "Why, have you seen a lot of people were that today?"
And I say, "No, it just looks really good on you." Face lights up and a cheerfull "thank you" comes out with a big smile. I finish buying my book and leave with the 'have a nice day, you too" closing and leaving the store. I have to walk past the counter to leave.As I walk past, I see out of the corner of my eye that she's looking dead at me and watching me leave.
Now, I'm rusty at my flriting. But was she checking me out to see the rest of me that wasn't behind the counter? And does it sound like I could have gotten her number had I asked?

I want to get my sister a puzzle ornament or whatever they are called for christmas. I have been given more ornaments over the years so she is always a little sad when I have more to put on the tree than she does. I was hoping to start a tradition of giving her a puzzle ornament.My grandma has given me three or four in the past few years and it is a blast to put them together. I want to get one for each of us and put them together together.It will also be a way for us to spend some time together.My grandma told me she gets them at barnes and noble but I looked online and couldnt really see that big of a selection that I was hoping for. Best way to lighten wood stain?

Ok, I have been staining all of my trim and base boards (all pine) with a cherry oak stain and have been extremely happy with the color. I have finally gotten around and tackled the long and tedious project of refinishing the front door(un shure of the wood) and put only one coat on and the color is really, really, dark. I worked on these doors for a week straight sanding all the nooks and detailed trim and am so bummed out with the darkness of the color. I haven't dared to put any clear sealer on it yet, so hopefully there are still some options. Does any one know a way to lighten it up a bit? Please tell me some amazing idea witch hopefully doesn't include having to sand and strip it down all over again :)

What is the big deal with the ebook series Child of a Crackhead?

I've heard lots of people saying this is a fantastic series, and websites such as Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Goodreads are giving it 4.5/5 stars.
But then I've read excerpts from the book and I have no idea what everyone is hyping about. The writer is obviously inexperienced and doesn't know how to construct a story. The grammar, punctuation, and spelling errors are abundant, and the plot doesn't even move forward well at all.
So what is everyone so excited about? Am I missing something?
I just feel a bit confused here… because only a few online reviews I read mentioned "some grammar errors" - and if these reviews are accurate to the observations of the readers, we have a serious problem here.

THE QUESTION:

MY ANSWER:
"I don't agree with the other answer. Yes, if you want to learn a language you need to put in hard effort and practice, but to say that in order to achieve fluency, you must study strenuously is a little mendacious. I was born a bilingual, and raised speaking my mother tongue (Persian) and English as my second language, both fluently. The only way you can hope to learn any language and become fluent, you must have passion.Is German something that you are passionate about? If so, then the process should not be "boring".Be prudent, however. Being fluent at any language is not something that you can do overnight or in a week.As for German, French, Spanish, Italian, or any language that uses the Latin alphabet, it will be at least 3 years to be able to speak in basic conversations.In order to speak at an advanced/native level as a native German it will be around 5-15 years all depending on how much you study.

To answer your question, I find that if you are not taking a class or tutored, then you can easily use numerous resources from the internet and of course, books. For example, the first things you learn are "Hello", "what is your name", "my name is..", "How are you?" etc, and all that can be found here

or if you want to have a reference in your hands you can find a German phrasebook (also includes vocabulary), a dictionary or a "501 German Verbs" book at any Barnes & Noble booksellers which is 501 verbs that are conjugated and in present, past, future, etc. I own "501 French Verbs" and it's very helpful in French class and I remember it cost less than $10.

As for language learning software like Rosetta Stone, I've personally never used one before so I cannot speak on behalf of that. However, I will admit I've had friends who used Instant Immersion software and I heard it was good, and it's a better deal than Rosetta Stone.

Instant Immersion German (level 1, 2, 3) is around $20-$40 at Barns & Noble
Rosetta Stone German (level 1, 2, 3, 4, 5) is $350-$499!
In my opinion that is an extreme price, I recommend Instant Immersion. That way, you won't spend a fortune and you can see if you actually like language software or not and if you do, you can "upgrade" to Rosetta Stone if you wish, once you are at an intermediate level.

Finally, it will help you SO much if you have a German speaking friend that you can practice with or they can correct your mistakes for you. Even the most authentic or reliable websites or books can be wrong at times. When you have a German speaker "coaching" you they can help you a lot more than you think. Like I mentioned before, my mother tongue is Persian, and I am fluent at speaking/writing. The translations presented on "Google Translate" are absolutely laughable.It may be due to the fact that Persian is more complex than the common Romance languages because it uses a different script/alphabet and it is Subject-Object-Verb (ex. "Sarah cooked an eggplant" would be "Sarah eggplant cooked") I know that sounds crazy to English speakers, but it's the same to us Persians when someone says "Mary ate an apple" when we would say "Mary apple ate". Nevertheless, Google Translate's translations were terrible. THE BOTTOM POINT IS that any living, breathing human being that speaks German will be 1000x more helpful than any expensive translators or software. BUT, Google Translate does an OK job for simple sentences and words.

Hi, I just ordered a 32gb n2a sd card for my nook color from Amazon, I received it 15 minutes ago and try to put it in my nook by unmounting the old sd card, powering down the nook, putting the n2a card in and turning it back on but it's not working.my nook reads the card but it does give me android features.what can I do?

Which tablet reads and writes?

So I'm getting a tablet for my wife for christmas(baby of you're reading, stop!).
Her old one died, but she mostly used it for reading. She loves reading, but she also needs one that can be used for writing in. A document program that is or can be installed (preferrable Microsoft Word) for taking fast notes for her job, then possibly transferring them to her computer later on.
She has the iPhone 4s but this tablet also needs to be able to surf the web easily, get on Facebook, watch movies, access Netflix, taking pictures and texting if possible are also very much preferred on it as well.
Preferably $300 or less. I'm looking at the B&N Nook HD+, the Kindle Fire HD and just heard of the Google Nexus 7. But are there others?
Which is the best suited for the job? If those were on your criteria, which would you choose?

First off… what is the difference bweteen the two? Pros and cons? Do not just copy and paste the details from B&N… give me your input! Which is better? For books? Apps? Web? Wifi? Or is Kindle better? Why?

Also… I am wondering because my mom keeps asking what I want for Christmas… we are kind of tight on money… but this is pretty much all I am asking for except for some little things. I mean… my mum has never like e-readers and stuff--she says they take away from the book, but seriously I would never give up paper books for an e-reader… I would use both. The nook would just be for books i need that i cant find anywhere… gifts (like e-books), etc.

Nook or Kindle? E-readers in general?

I am looking to get an e-reader, either a Nook or Kindle. But I have NO IDEA what model to choose! It is so confusing! There are so many, so if someone could give me suggestions, on which to go with that would be great! Two of the things I really need in an e-reader are:

Time Estimate for Spanish version of Twilight?

Today, at the nearest Barnes & Noble, I bought a copy of the Spanish version of Twilight, and, since I know very little Spanish, a copy of the Spanish for Dummies All-in-One, which has all of their Spanish material. I'd like a reasonable estimate of how long it will take me before I'll be able to read my Spanish version of Twilight and get the gist of it. I'll probably study for an hour or so per day (probably two hours for the rest of this week, since I don't have to be at school or work considering Thanksgiving). Also, I should mention that Spanish will not be the first foreign language for me to take on, as my French is currently lower to medium conversational level (and improving because of my school's good French program, and the amount of outside study I do.)
Added (1). Just to clarify, I'm not going to even attempt to read my Spanish Twilight until I have fairly firm grasp of basic Spanish (which I'm hoping to gain from the Spanish for Dummies).

What tablets allow multiple types of ebook formats?

I'm looking into getting a tablet for the holidays, but I'm not sure what to choose. I'd like to stay in the lower range (under $250), but I'd like one wi-fi enabled (no data plan, just able to pick up local wifi spots). But the thing I'd really like is an e-reader like the Kindle or Nook. But I've looked at those, and they don't allow for epub and pdf files. I already have a small collection of ebooks, and really need one that allows it to read epub at least. The Kindle or Nook just allow you to use books from their source (Amazon or Barnes and Nobles).

Anyone know of any tablets that allow epub book formats?

Where Can I Find Action Figures From The Walking Dead?

My boyfriend wants one thing for Christmas this year--a Daryl Dixon action figure. I've checked Toys 'R Us, Macfarlane's website, Barnes&Noble (no luck with any of those), and finally eBay and Amazon. Struck gold with the last two, except these action figures are selling for around $100. I'm not much of a comic book/action figure expert, so I'm wondering if there are other lesser-known places where I may be able to find this, or if I'm going to end up paying an arm and leg for it online.

My nook won't unlock?

It is completely charged and I can get it to the screen where it says "drag to unlock your nook" and you have to slide your finger across the screen, but it won't respond to me. Help? Please?

What classic fiction novel has a story line about a man with an octopus head and a woman?

My boyfriend has been dying to find this book he saw at barnes and noble but we cannot seem to find it.we spent hours looking on shelves, looking online and we cant find it anywhere. Its a story about a squid man or octopus man and a woman probably relating towards the line of Davy Jones and Calypso? The cover has the guy and girl on it. He thought it might have been a Penguin Classic.he knows for sure it is a Fiction & Literature book.it was also on the best sellers list at barnes and noble but the worker there couldnt find any information on it.if anyone has any possible ideas on what it might be please help us out!!!

I'm thinking about getting one of these two tablets to replace my aging Nook Color. I'm currently running Jellybean on it and want to do the same on my new tablet.

Both have their pluses and minuses.

1. The Kindle doesn't have an SD card slot, but can I connect an SD reader to the USB port?

A few years ago, perhaps 2 or 3, I remember coming to Barnes and Nobles and finding a BIG, BLACK, Batman book.It wasn't a comic book. Tablet under $130 that plays Netflix and Skype?

I'm looking for a cheap tablet. Nothing fancy like an ipad or Nook. I just need Netflix and a front facing camera for Skype. I'd like something with little to no lag and I'm not talking about browsing the web at lightening fast speed either. I don't mind waiting a little for an app to load.
I have been looking at the Coby Kyros tablets and the Flytouch as well as the DoPo tablets which all claim to meet my needs but do not have enough reviews or has really mixed reviews about them.
I have also been told not to purchase a PanDigital because they're bad, but not sure how true that is.

Any help would be great!

An Asus Google Nexus 7 at $199 or a Nook Color at $99? I know the Nexus 7 is a better tablet, but it is a 100 dollars more than the Nook. I can't decide so can someone pick for me. And tell me why if you have a specific reason.

Nook Tablet won't charge?

I've had my nook tablet for almost a year now, and it's worked just fine until recently.
A couple days ago, my tablet randomly started freezing and I'd have to restart it, I deleted the apps that it was happening too, thinking it was a defective app.
However, two days ago, i left my nook charging during the night, and when i woke up the next morning, it refused to turn on.
My school books are on there, so it really bothered me, but nevertheless I left it at home, thinking that maybe it just needed a break, since i was on it all the time. I left it unplugged.
When i came home, it still would not turn on, so i plugged it back in, but the little window that says "Please wait an additional fifteen minutes" or whatever, didn't even pop up.
I left it alone for the rest of the night.
Yesterday morning, i tried to turn it back on, but nothing still showed up.
My mother plugged it into her computer and started it through the USB cord.
Now a little red window pops up that says "Battery too low to power ON, please connect to your charger."
So, i plugged it in and left it alone, but this morning it still wouldn't turn on. I started to ask around, because although it is mine, occasionally my dad will watch movies on it, my mom will play games, and my twin brother and sister like to play with it when i'm not home.
Well, I have just been informed that my sister broke the right headphone on my headphones off, so the wires were showing. When my nook died, they couldn't find the powercord, so they thought that sticking the wires in the charging area of my nook would charge it, like the battery on a car (yeah, smart thinkers.).
I figure that's what messed it up and since they did it a while ago, i figured that's why it kept freezing and such, because it was slowly becoming broken.
I just want to know if there is anyway to fix it at home or anything without having to take it to best buy to pay for it to get fixed. Or at least if there is anyway for someone to tell my if they know what exactly is messed up inside of the tablet (the whole system, just the charging area… etc.).
Anything anyone can tell me about how to fix it or just what is wrong would be greatly appreciated!!!

Looking for a 200-250$ Tablet?

So I'm looking for a Tablet I've been looking at The Kindle, Nexus 7 and this Polaroid Tablet.
Mostly I'm looking for a Tablet where I can use Gift Cards/Cash Cards like for Google Play.iTunes these are just examples.
I don't want an iPad because of the lack of specs I've heard they had compared to the others and the price.

I'm looking for a Tablet that can probably play many of the Apps out there right now and pretty much some of the high graphic ones like SHADOWGUN, Infinity Blade and A Bard's Tale I know the last one is old but it has 3D graphics.
(I have a huge addiction to Temple Run)

I want one so I can watch Netflix on it I usually only use my Wii for Netflix.

My Mom has a Nook Color which seems pretty good except the touch screen usually doesn't respond when playing a movie or show on Netflix. Usually she has to reboot or go to home and go to the menu with all the Apps listed and click on Netflix from there.

I've also been looking at a iPod Touch but since I've been told I'd need a 16GB or higher which is like 200$ or 195$ on Amazon.

Unless you can buy Apps from the Amazon store and put them on any other Device other then a Kindle and this is just on the Amazon Website I'll probably have to go for a Nexus 7 but I'm hoping some of you guys have different options.

When should I call to check up on a job application?

I had an interview on Thursday, and the interviewer said that she'd most likely call me that evening or the day after. She hasn't called me back yet, and I don't want to come off as pushy, but I want to show that i'm interested. Should I call on Monday? Or should I hold off? This is for a position as a cafe worker at Barnes and Noble.
