Nook vs Kindle? Which is better?

I'm contemplating getting an eReader. I've had a nook before but had to sell it due to the fact that I was wanting a laptop. Now I want another reading device but am torn between which one to purchase. The nook simple or the old kindle? I know that if you preorder a book on kindle it automatically pops up on your home screen at midnight- do the same rules apply for nook?

I'm looking for a good tablet. I like IPads, but I've never actually gotten the chance to use one. I've been doing some research. I also like the Nook HD+. I just want opinions on which ones you think are the best. I would prefer a cheaper one that would last quiet awhile. I want one that's over 8 inches. The ones I've been looking at mostly are the newest IPad, the newest Kindle Fire Hd 8.9 and the Nook HD+. Any tablet out right now would be fine. Just let me know what you think. Setting up a Nook overseas?

My boyfriend broke his Nook right before he deployed to Afghanistan (literally the day before-poor guy). He says it still works, just the screen is broken. I wanted to surprise him with a new one and send it over there.Is there any way I can transfer the books he has on the old one to his new one? Or would I need his login info? If not, he says that his CO has a bunch of books on his Nook that he was going to download… can he do that overseas if he only occasionally has access to wifi? I don't want to buy the Nook if it's just going to turn into a paperweight until he gets back.

I am so paranoid all of the time. The first thing I became paranoid about was someone close to me dying in a car accident. This became when my friend's older sister died in a car accident. I didn't even really know her sister, but it was so traumatic for me because I was at her house when it happened.So I had to ride with then to the hospital and everything. This isn't my biggest problem though.At night when I'm laying in my bed about to go to sleep, I always get scared that someone is going to come into my house and kill me and my family. I have to check all around the house in every nook & cranny so I can get justification that no one is there. But that still doesn't help. I feel like i have to pray a certain amount of prayers to God to make sure that none of this will happen and it just never seems like enough.So I drive myself crazy thinking what could happen to me or my family.My mind plays tricks on me a lot, too, when it's dark. One time it was raining and i started crying because i didn't want a tree to fall on my house. I also am afraid a fire is going to start. Any catastrophie terrifies me and i get worked up over the littlest things.It is really overwhelming me and i know something is wrong. What mental disorder does this sound like to you?

I love reading & I'll be 16 years old soon, so working at Barnes and Noble would be my dream job (for my teenage years at least).
I really want to work there this summer, but I don't have any previous work experience.

I haven't worked anywhere else, b/c I'm still young. Plus, the minimum age to work there is 16, so age wouldn't be a problem for me.

Bought a book on Nook Color, but it suddenly says it's a sample?

I bought a book for my Nook Color. I know I paid for it. However, while reading it, it suddenly stopped me and said I've reached the end of my sample and if I wanted to read the rest, I had to pay for it! I refuse to pay for it twice. This was on the B&N site, mind you, so it's not my device that's glitching. I logged out and logged back in, thinking it would fix the problem, but it did not. Nothing on the book icon says it's a sample. I have a sample of a different book, so could that be causing it to glitch?
Added (1). It may just be the site because out of curiosity, I tried looking at other books I have, and it says they're all samples. Has that happened to you before? My Nook is charging, which is why I was using the site in the first place.

This is what happened. I was reading my nook simple touch, when my brother was being annoying so i told him to shut up and other things. I put my nook down in front of me and we got into a brother sister argument. He came tackling me and before he could get to me crack. He put his knee on my nook simple touch. I know it was an accident and he knows, and i've made a bargain saying he will pay half for the replacement of the nook. I'm just wondering do you guys think its fair. So I work at a Barnes and Noble, and this week they cut my hours by a lot, and only gave me one day of work in a one week period.So I wrote on the posted schedule in the break room, that I would be On Call yesterday, today, tomorrow, and Friday.
I covered a shift for someone last night.
Things have changed and I am only able to be 'On Call' before 3:00pm on the days I said I could take shifts.So I scribbled out my On Call days on the schedule, and left a note saying that I would cover shifts before 3:00 today and tomorrow, but Saturday I am now unavailable.
Can I get I to any trouble by doing this?
Things happened that are out of my control that I am unable to change, which means I can't work all the days I thought I could.

Ami just really over thinking this?

Why certain stores have more attractive workers?

This is probably the stupidest question but…
I just bought a starbucks coffee--white mocha at my barnes and noble because i needed to sit down and look at a book for school and I feel obligated to buy a drink whenever i do this.
Instead of reading the like i intended i took a picture of the page/ question i needed and wanted to leave. I still have my coffee but i dont want to drink it cause I need to be heading off to bed soon even though at the time i bought the coffee i thought i needed it cause i was going to be staying up.
The question in can i put my mocha in the fridge now and heat it up and drink it in the morning? lets say a whole 12 hrs and its all good.

How to read NOOK book rental on my iPad?

I rented a textbook on the Barnes and Noble NOOK site. I downloaded the NOOK app for my Mac and it works just fine--I can read the entire book. I then downloaded the NOOK app for my iPad, and when I open the app the textbook isn't there. I have tried syncing, logging out and then back in. I have also searched other forums online and found nothing… Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

I was debating between either a basic nook or kindle, the ipad is too expensive and I don't really need a tablet since I have a laptop and a smartphone. But the main reason is to save on books for school although I will probably read regular chapter books on there as well. I'm 16 and i'm an african american girl and I'm applying for a job at Barnes and Noble. I like spending a lot of time there and I know basically all the shelves by heart, so I thought it would be a nice place to work. But I was just thinking, and of all the hours I've worked there, I've never seen a black person working there.

Maybe I've just come by at the wrong times and there's black people working there, but no one that I have seen. I would rather the person looking at my application look at it and not automatically throw it out because s/he sees i'm black, and I would rather them see me in person and know that i'm normal and not by any means a "stereotypical black person".

Roach bombing in one bed room?

Hi there,
So I moved from FL to CA and it turns out I brought some little friends with me. Well more like disgusting unwanted pests, German roaches to be precise.So from what I can tell, their base of operation in my box spring mattress. Soooooo, I have ordered one of those bed frames that do not require a box spring, and have purchased some roach bombs. (The small ones from Raid). Now my question is this, can I just take what I have in my room, cloths, TV, mattress, etc.out, shut my door, seal up all the nooks and crannies so that is doesn't go anywhere but in my room, and set it off without having to leave my house? I do have pets and they, of cause, would be locked in a different room far from my bedroom. I feel that if I took these precautions it would be fine. I'm not asking for criticism, just want to know if any of you have done it or if you feel it may or may not work.

Things to know before answering:
1. I do know that if you see one there are more, but for now I need to focus on the source.
2. Though it my sound like I'm just being lazy and don't want to leave my house, I am not. I live here alone and have no family or friends to stay with for a little. Plus as some for you animal lovers out there may know, it can damn difficult to move a pet even for a little bit. (I have 2 cats and a bird)
3. Yes, I am going to throw away the box spring. That's a no brainer.

Nook/Built-in Bed, How to go about it?

Well, I'm moving into a barely finished attic that I can't even stand up in.It is extremely tiny.In an effort to make it as spacious of a space as possible, I'm taking advantage of what is already there. There is an elevated part that would be perfect for one of those built-in nook like beds. You know, the ones in random wall spaces. Does anyone know how to go about making one?
My main concern is what mattress to get, my queen is never going to fit. I have no idea even if a twin will. I was either thinking maybe a futon set-up or daybed mattress, or even a foam one. I have no idea. I also wanted to find some way to attach cushions to the wall due to the slanted ceiling.

If anyone can offer advice, please do!

Cat neck wound that won't heal?

I am desperate for answers; if anyone has had a similar situation or has any veterinarian experience, please let me know. Here is the situation. Siamese, female, about 1 and a half years old, completely healthy before this, spayed, vaccines up-to-date and currently on Revolution flea control. She won't stop scratching/licking wounds on her neck. Vet bills are getting outrageous and blankets and walls are splattered with blood from when she lies down after scratching open her neck.

She used to be the most attention needy, loving sociable cat. Now she is always hiding, for hours and hours.In weird nooks, or just lying in her litter box all day. She doesn't care to play as much and doesn't follow me around the house like she used to, excited for me to be home and play with her. She has lost a pound in the past 6 months (now at 7lbs). I have taken her to 3 different vets over the course of half a year, steroids, antibiotics, nothing is working. Vet just started her on a trial of Atopica daily doses this month, to see if this could help.
I have tried the nail covers, taping her back feet, covering her neck, buying cat socks, shirts (can't find one that doesn't rub into the wound, but its extremely difficult to keep on). The scabs always seem to heal a bit but get worse each time, she has a few wounds/scabs/hair loss on top of her neck too now. I have switched her food to Blue Buffalo anti-allergy incase it's a food allergy and bathe her w/hypoallergenic shampoo, which she enjoys because it temporarily stops the itching I suppose and at first shampooing her 3x a week helped dramatically with the wounds (I know to be gentle and not scrub off healing tissue/scabs)

Her medical history, straight from paperwork: past to present (missing 1 or 2 but same old steroids, allergy diagnosis)

July 12: Vet did fungus culture (negative for ringworm/fungus), prescribed 10 prednisolone 5mg ---seemed to get close to healing, but never did fully
Sometime after, found fleas on her, bombed the apt, sprayed, bathed her, started her on Revolution. (Havn't seen a flea on her or the apartment sense.)
Aug 31 - Scabs got worse and into ear, Vet diagnosed as allergies and yeast infection in ears and gave 12 Prednisolone, 5 mg and 15mL tresaderm
Oct 1 – Injection of Convenia and Neo Predef Powder. The vet told me to clean her neck wounds with hydrogen peroxide everyday and to put the Powder on, this is when I switched my vet clinic and doctor, hoping to find a better answer.
Oct 11 – Vet gave 14 Clavamox 62.5mg (antibiotic)
Jan 10: Vet did full med exam, skin scrape (negative), gave injection of Convenia, prescription of Prednisolone 5mg (2x a day for 5 days, 1 everyday for 5, and the rest every other day), and gave me Hexadene Flush to clean wound.
Jan 23: Vet gave another injection of Convenia
Feb 2: started daily doses of Atopica (should last about 4-6 weeks)

Has anyone had a cat who wouldn't stop scratching themselves or licking to where it wouldn't heal for this kind of time period, or have any advice. I would be more than grateful. I just want my baby to be healthy and happy again.

Two poets return, both were among my first here
where I came in, not at all a worthy peer,
but a novice with a series of poems that were all angst
and lacking in any true literary strength.
Overcome with emotion now I regress and write
just like I did then. I decided not to fight
these feelings. Instead I let my tears flow
after all, I didn't come here to put on a show,
I stumbled into a realm that had magic in its nook,
where I have read more poetry than ever in a book.
To Kevein and to Carol, Autumn Lover and MTR2,
I owe a bit of thanks to the magic in both of you.
You woke a sleeping part of me and made me feel
something that my future poetry will perhaps reveal.
I forgot how good it is to share the moments in this way.
May the magic carry you to a brighter, finer day.

Confused about the manga ai ore!

Ok so I'm reading the manga AI ORE and i got confused because i read on the internet that there are sequels and the canceled the like they said there was three different mangas one call Blaue Rosen, AI ORE, and AI WO UTAU YORI ORE NI OBORERO! so which one goes first? what are they and where do i buy them? I'm just really confused now because I'm reading AI ORE the one from barnes and noble.someone please help me thank you

Does Barnes and Noble hire teenagers?

I badly want to work at Barnes and noble. Even though the application says they hire teenagers I've never actually seen one working at the store. (at least not at my store). I love reading and I feel that working there would be the perfect job for me. Please help!
