I'm referring specifically to the Nook HD+, it looks great for the current price ($150 for a Father's Day weekend sale), but I ask because I have seen numerous news stories about B&N lately, such as the possible sale of Nook content to Microsoft and the possible discontinuation of Nook tablets altogether. All that and, quite frankly, that sharp a price drop at any time scares me, reminds of what Blackberry did with their Playbook tablet. Anyway, for a techie like me it looks like a pretty good device and I like B&N.
I especially appreciate answers from anyone who has owned one. How often do you receive software updates from B&N to the device. I had a unsatisfactory experience with the original Kindle Fire, so I will be comparing it to that.
Should I buy it with all that info in mind? I suppose it's not that much of a risk. A BIG THANKS IN ADVANCE! Leave questions if anything is unclear, I can check back and edit my question.

What would you do in this situation?
About a year ago, my mom found out I was reading 50 Shades of Grey, so she took it away from me. I thought that was the end and that she wouldn't bring it up again, but a few days later I overheard her and my sister talking about me. They'd keep making references to BDSM and find subtle ways to call me a whore or a pervert.
Examples: They hate the Vampire Diaries, but I love it. They just so happened to walk in while I was watching that episode where one of the characters was chained up and tortured and then my sister said "Of course she'd be watching THAT". That same day while my mom fixed my hair, she and my sister started complaining about how teenagers were having sex too early. Mom said TV and books were to blame. "Just look at how this one turned out" The most recent example was a few weeks ago. I had the stomach flu and fell asleep in the middle of the day. When I woke up, my book shelf was missing dozens of books.My sister told me that she and Mom went through them for any inappropriate content and were giving them to Goodwill. Then they made me get dressed for church, saying that I needed Jesus more than anyone else in this house did. I had to sit (and partially stand) through at least 7 songs, 4 testimonies, 5 prayers, 9 bible readings, and a near hour-long sermon, holding in vomit and diarrhea.
They've almost stopped, and I was willing to forget about the past year completely until last week my mom and I went to Barnes and Noble. She bought 50 Shades, thinking I wouldn't see it hidden under her other book. After all the ridicule and all the lectures on how I'd wind up with STDs and go to hell for getting into S&M, she bought the same book.
I'm not as angry as I am hurt. Should I ignore it or should I say something? To the parents, what would you do in this situation?

How long before the cops show up?
Back in college (before I was expelled for this very incident), my friend bet me $500 that I wouldn't punch a cop in the face. Here is why I thought it was a good idea at the time: I was drunk, I was broke and $500 would have been awesome, and the cop was just standing there alone in a vulnerable position. From where he was standing, I would be able to land a sucker punch and then run off into the night before he could recover. I had no problem punching this cop either. I was pissed at the cops because they had pepper sprayed everyone during a celebration riot for beating Ohio State three weeks earlier. That *** was brutal. Even hours after my eyes had recovered, when I went to take a shower, it washed more pepper spray out of my hair and back into my eyes.My wrist burned the next day because pepper spray got under my watch. I could never get that *** off of the watch - it always seemed like more would find a way out of the nooks in the watch band, even weeks later. I eneded up selling the watch on Craigslist for $50. I don't feel bad for the guy who bought it because when he showed up he was like "uh I only have $40 is that cool?" No. *** off. Oh you found another $10 in your pocket? Yeah *** you buddy, enjoy your eternally burning wrist.

Is it bad I still keep going back to my community college? - 1
I am a 20 year old guy and was taking classes at a community college for two years. I have now transferred to a university. But every Friday instead of going to my university to study I instead go and study at the community college. I prefer to study there instead. I just like the atmosphere better, I like to still say hi or chat with some of the math tutors, I like to have eat lunch at the Thai place or other restaurants around it and go to the Barnes and Noble right next to the place or go for a walk around. I realize I am somewhat attached to the place.Is this bad? If it is, how do I stop feeling this way?

Vizio tablet trouble :?
I have a VTAB vizio tablet that worked great. I dropped it a while ago, and all that broke was the speakers. Then, this morning, I turned it on, and I could not press the keys.

Recurring locations in multiple dreams?
I usually don't remember any of my dreams, but for the last month or two I've had 4 dreams I remember very vividly, 2 having the same place, and 2 having a different same place.
I don't exactly remember what actually occurred in the first 2 dreams, but they both were absolutely terrifying and took place in some sort of "house museum" (like those famous, old houses that are on display as museums) that had a very dark history. I never actually found out it was famous, but the house was hosted on this huge property and was huge. The majority of the house was pretty beat up and not museum looking at all, despite being a museum. I would wander throughout the huge house and there was a very vivid thing I saw. There were things like ghosts wandering in the house of the people who once lived there. But they were corporeal and severely deformed. I felt like they wanted to hurt me, they were just a threat.In the first dream, I encountered a woman, a young girl, and an older man in a suit and a top hat. Both the young girl and the woman stared at me in this awful way and simply did not look away, and while I couldn't see the man's body, he was standing in tall grass (the section of the house I was in had a large piece of the wall broken off) and walked towards me, making throaty sounds. I suppose something bad had happened to me in the dream, maybe he killed me, because I woke up after that in a cold sweat.
In the second dream that happened in that location as well, there was a theater room in the museum. I was with some friends and we were going to watch a showing there. I walked out to use the restroom or something and ended up getting lost within the house. I kept trying to find my way back to the theater, but to no avail. Sooner or later I came across this girl in a white nightgown. She has long and tangled black hair, and a very pale face. Her face was deformed in a way that made her face seem hollowed in or something. She looked at me like she was very angry at me. I kind of just walked past her and she was mumbling something at me, with the same angry look, but it wasn't anything I could understand.
Strangely enough, as I entered the next room I was back in the theater room.It was completely empty now. I can't remember what happened after that.
It was just a very unsettling dream.It makes me all spooked to think about it.
The second set of dreams aren't as spooky, but still strange.
The recurring location was a bookstore of sorts.It was like a simple bookstore, like barnes & nobles, with some shelves set up and books propped up on them, and various sofas/chairs set up around so that one could lounge and read. Nothing really significant about it.
The first dream is a little fuzzy to me. I went to the bookstore not really looking for anything in particular, just to browse. One of the books propped up was a book that my mother had been searching for. I browsed the bookstore and discovered a secret door. I walked through it and entered this area made out of stone, like a mine.It had lanterns scattered around it, and no one seemed to notice that I had just opened this huge crater in the wall.It lead down, and I kept walking, and fell in a pit.It was dark and damp, with a bunch of leaves on the bottom. I didn't have any pain in my body, but I couldn't escape. I just sat there and accepted my fate I suppose. And that was the first dream.
In the second dream, my grandmother had adopted two young boys to replace two dogs that had died.My grandmother hasn't had any dogs since she was a child, and never adopted, so I'm not sure how I conjured it up. The dream started out with some adventures with the two young boys, and them telling me about their trip to disney land. I took them to the bookstore, the same exact bookstore, and they walked around, entertaining themselves. I let them wander around the store while I browsed the books. I grabbed one, with no title on the front, and opened it. A large black spider fell out. I heard one of the boys scream, and the dream ended and I woke up.

I received a book with named "Collapse of Dignity".It is the second book I received these weeks.
It is sold by Barnes&Noble.It shows in the receipt that the book is sold to "A YOU, 8430 Shore drive, Machesney Park, IL, 61115" and ship to my home.
I never ordered such books. I hope you can tell me why it happens. Why they know my address and name? I checked my credit cards and no such transaction records.

Do books from BN. com come in perfect condition?
I usually buy books from local Barnes and Noble stores, and I have to carefully select a book that's in perfect condition, because it's obvious that people grab them, and sometimes do not treat them well, specially the dust jacket, which sometimes is even ripped.

What manga do you recommend for me?
I'm going to the bookstore and I've decided that I want to finally get more into manga. What do you recommend for a beginner? (And could you kindly recommend a few, just in case Barnes and Noble lacks the one you've recommended? Thanks guys) Oh, and don't bother explaining how to read it or anything, because I've read it once before and I know how it works.

Removing entryway closet?
We currently never use our front door (unless it's the pizza man making a delivery), and our back door leads right into the kitchen where there is no closet at all. We are planning on expanding our garage and attaching it to the back of the house onto where the back door is.My question is - if we were to add a mudroom in the garage connecting to the back door, would it be ok to remove the closet by the front door to make more space for our dining table? We have a very small house and the only spot for a table is in a tiny nook in the living room, and if we could remove that closet, it would give us more room for the table - but is removing an entryway closet a no no?

Why do i have both dry and oily skin?
So I'd say I have combination skin, like it's pretty normal on my cheeks and forehead area.
however, I get so many little blackhead thingies on my nose and the nook of my chin, that I can't get rid of! I also get a few tiny ones in between my eyebrows. I've tried scrub and strips and making homemade remedies and when I squeeze them a whole load of crap seems to come out but then if I look again five minutes later it seems as if nothing's changed.
I'm pretty sure this just damages my skin as well. has anyone got a solution!
But also, the skin on my T zone (but really my I zone cos not so much on my forehead haha) is quite oily, hence the blackheads, but at the same time it's dry and flakey! how can this be? can anyone help me just get normal skin please :') I'm 16 btw so I know it's partly because of that but still, there must be something I can do.

How much does it cost to have a washer and dryer hookup installed?
My washer and dryer are currently in the basement of my 93 year old home. The basement is nasty. The dryer doesn't have a vent to the outside so it gets humid in the basement when running the dryer, plus a bunch of creepy crawlies all over the place! I'd prefer to never have to go down there!
I have an old back porch that was closed in and has a bathroom that was added to it, there is also a breakfast nook in the kitchen that was part of the original back porch as well. Yet another area I was considering is a large "cubby" upstairs located right next to the bathroom with easy access to the plumbing. I was wondering if it was possible to put a washer and dryer hookup in any of those places so I can finally stop doing laundry in that nasty basement of mine!
Obviously I will need a professional to come and look but before I pay somebody do any of those sound feasible?

Heres what it comes down to: If I dont get work soon, I'll be homeless?
Ever since I was 15, I tried to find work. But I got no leads. I'm 20 now, and the first job I had, I got fired on the first day for being too slow. Stupid fast food joint. They didn't gimme any training. Moneys been an issue for years and years, as long as I can remember. Need money for clothes, need money for a drivers license, need money for a lot. Then there's the wants, which..Ya know, everyone has wants.
I graduated highschool, and I check Craigslist every day, but most of the jobs I CAN get are either too far away or they need a resume(Which I'm workin' on now). Believe me when I say I wouldn't try Craigslist if I didn't searched every little nook in the city for a job at Burger King, Mcdonalds, Frys, Costco, everywhere.
You want a point? Here it is. I live with a dysfunctional family, and my dad finally decided he wants out, for his own stupid delusions.So he wants to sell the house.My moms tryin' to get him not to. But he goes out everyday for financial advice.My mom cant do that. She doesnt got the time for that. She WORKS.My dad doesn't. Hes retired.
Anyway..If he sells the house, my mom cant afford an apartment.So where's that leave us? I cant stay at any of my family's cuz they got their OWN families to take care of..And my sister can barely even afford her apartment.
I knew this day was gonna come..I always knew it. But this f*cking economy is so horrible out here. I mean, whats it tell ya when my friends make their living off selling meth, and heroin?
I need work. If I don't get work, I could lose the family. But even if I DON'T, I still need some goddamn work.
Added (1). I need some good ideas here. Just please please PLEASE don't tell me to "Keep trying. You'll find a job." at freakin' Panda Express or some other place I've been putting applications at for like..Two years. (Actually, I've been puttin' applications in at Costco since 2010)

Nook HD charging problems?
I got my Nook HD as a Christmas present last year, two days ago it went dead, so I went to charge it and it wouldn't charge.It says its drained of battery, so the light is orange when it charges. Then a minuet later It will turn green to say its fully charged. But the screen will show the battery sigh that it needs to be charged.
-Please note I got it as a gift, so I don't have the receipt-
I don't know what to do! I don't want to buy another one because that's 200$ I don't have. I dont know if it has a warranty or not.Im pretty sure It doesn't.

Why isn't home wifi working on my nook?
So my home wifi worked fine on my nook until one day it randomly said "Not in range."
My internet is turned on, but my nook can't seem to find the signal to my wifi.

I got a new Nook Tablet from my Aunt and Unlce last Christmas. I used it for awhile, and all of a sudden, one day, I turn my Nook Tablet on, and the google play store was there, just like my old Android phone, where I could than download the same apps and games and stuff. When did Nook Tablet get the google play store? What was the date? I had no idea, until randomly it was on my home screen, because I had stopped using the Nook for awhile, and now I have been using it all the time.

What is this book? Fairy tale characters who know they are in a book?
I was at Barnes and Noble passing time and I found this book, I should have bought it then. I can't remember the name and now I'm dying to read it!
It's about this fairy tale, the characters only play the role written them when the book is open like a play and a curtain. But when the book is closed they are just like people with everyday lives. Some aren't even like the character they play.

Does an e-reader work outside of the U. S?
I am considering purchasing an e-reader (Nook or Kindle) in the U. S. I plan to be traveling and would like to use it in Europe, so my question is, will they still work?
If they don't, what funtion(s) of the Nook/Kindle will work?

Kindle Fire HD or Nook HD? - 2
With the Nook being on sale for the week, I am strongly considering getting it. I'd love to get a Kindle, but I have been hearing so many positive things about the Nook. I really like that the Nook has an expandable memory with the SD slot.It also has access to Google Play, giving it more app options than before. I have been hearing that Barnes and Noble may be going out of business, but that doesn't worry me too much… by then something better will probably be out! If anyone could give me pros and cons of each, or how your experience was with each… it would be greatly appreciated!
Also, please don't try to suggest any other tablets, like an iPad or Nexus, I'm not interested in those at this point.
Added (1). Also, the camera lacking on the Nook isn't a deal breaker.

My husban is reading walmart online out loud about tablets, originally he was searching Walmart's laptops. Can somebody tell what they are & which is better. Oh & the difference btween laptops & tablets. Other than the obvious (lap & tablet)

Is this correct (wormhole description and analogy)?
I would like to know if this opening paragraph to a chapter about wormholes is any good, creates understandable analogies and, most importantly, is correct:
The universe is perhaps not what you may at first imagine it to be, it is not the vast emptiness dotted with an occasional star that it so often seems when you stare out into the sky, on a grander scale it is more like a material, a fabric even. If you examine this fabric that makes up the world we know and if you zoom in far enough you find little nooks and crannies - in everything, including time. Down at these tiny pockets and cracks are where the wormholes exist. Wormholes are passages or portals linking the fabric of the universe to itself in every conceivable way, they form, break and reform all around you all the time, but are so very tiny, below even atomic scales. If you imagine the whole universe as this piece of fabric, you can take it and fold it over, if something were on one side of it ordinarily this said something would have to travel all the way across the fabric and around the other side to reach a destination on the opposite side, this is the normal way that we travel anywhere, down a street, around the world or across space. But you could take that said fabric and punch a hole through it at your point of origin, because the fabric is folded that hole would come out on the other side, a long way from where you start (that is if you took the conventional route) but you could travel through this hole in an instant - that is the power that wormholes possess, the ability to connect the entirety of time space. But of course at the tiny scale that they exist in they are useless to mankind, they are barely even detectable. But lets say that with some colossal amount of energy, some enormous power source, these tiny holes could be expanded to accommodate a human, a robot or even a space craft. Wormholes like these would be able to transport matter lightyears across the universe from one place to another in an instant, taking it through one tear in the fabric of space time and projecting it out of another…

Are these good strengths and weaknesses for an interview?
I have an interview as a cafe server at Barnes & Noble tomorrow and am trying to prepare for it.
Interviewers typically ask the interviewee to list three strengths and three weaknesses. Are these good ones?
Strengths:
Dependability: I am always on time, if not early so that I can settle in and be ready when it's time to work. If given a task to do, I will complete it efficiently and effectively. I'll come into work early or leave late if need be.
Hard-working: I do my absolute best when at work and try to go above and beyond.At my old job, I was promoted twice due to giving the job my all. I ended up being in the highest non-management position.
Great customer service: It is my goal that customer's have a good time and make good memories so that they'll leave wanting to come back. I'm always smiling, chatting with customers, thanking them for coming in, and telling them to have a nice day! In fact, just this past week, a customer remembered me and said, "Thanks for always smiling, ___. You're always so happy to be here." And I am.It's customers like him that make me happy to work in customer service.
Weaknesses:
Time: I'm always early.At least 15 minutes. I can't stand the thought of being late and missing crucial information in a class or disappointing my managers. I used to just sit there, bored, until I decided to take advantage of the extra time and bring along homework or a book or to simply just relax and prepare myself for my upcoming shift.
Take on too much: I tend to take on so many tasks at once. When closing the snack bar, I'll start off with my area, clean it 95% of the way, but then go help someone else when I see that they need help. I'll tell myself, "Oh, I'll get the counters after I help him." But then when he's almost done, I'll go onto another task, and it just goes on and on. But by the end of the night, I've worked backwards and made it back to wiping off my counters with a clean snack bar in my wake.
Shy: Before working in customer service, I used to be very reserved. But after working a year at my old job, I've greatly improved. Now, I only get shy in social situations. I've learned that it's simply not worthwhile to be shy at work. I bring out my outgoing side at work and am very enthusiastic when customers.
What do you think? Do these reasons sound good? Do I sound like I've turned the weaknesses around too much?

Is MOBI and PDF compatible with Nooks?
I have a task to send out either MOBI or PDF versions of an e-book to some book reviewers. Some reviewers have asked for Nook Format or EPUB format. I have only MOBI and PDF. Are those reviewers out of luck or is MOBI or PDF compatible with Nook and EPUB?

House stereo.the loudest surround?
Never ask a question so not sure if i am doing right. But read and you guys help me a lot.
This is my problem. I live alone in 2000 sq foot house. I love listening to music. I pit sirius radio on the tv and blast it. Windows open. Ilive 2 1/2 acres so i can put louder.now the panasonid, (ex left it) is a surround system and goes to 82 percent max. I got five small cheapy speaker and they dont sound to loud. Crack after a while. I git a sub woofer too thats strong. I excercise in another room so i blast it so i can hear it. I gone outside and only hear half way.So no complains from neighbor. I am constantly putting the speaker wires (i got a cat that loves to chew cables).
I want louder speakers. Really loud because my house is big and i go outside a lot and want to hear.sometime i connect my i touch and hear that.
I been thinking going to walmart and buying a new surround system. But i want a loud one tat wont break my budget. A few hundred dollars or so. Any suggestion?
My car blast big time. I got to turn it down. Its a convertible. I dont want to go deaf. But i want a super loud system.
Buy a new surround system… or invest speakers. Also whats a good number. Higher the better? Like i said walmart… but if target or best buy got a good deal what do you sugggest. Sorry for long message and mistakes… this nook has a mind of its own when i type.

What kind of pet should i get?
I'm fourteen years old and my parents said I could get a pet but I don't know what to get. I like to say I am responsible and I do have time on my hands except for when i'm at school. I have a little sister so best not to have reptiles, bugs and amphibians also something that isn't too fragile.My parents have a big backyard and i am able to give 30-60 minutes exercise.
Also something that will not be a little explorer and hide in nooks and crannies.
Added (1). Something else is that my parents are divorced so I do week about, my mum doesn't have a fence but I can make one which would be secure.

Any Manga Stores in CT?
I was just wondering. They do have a Barnes and noble where i live but it doesn't have a lot to choose and when i mean not a lot i mean not a lot but id like to hear answers from you guys.feedback is much appreciated: D p.s or a cheap place to buy manga
