I kniw with the books you have purchased, you can lend it to a friend or whoever for 2 weeks, but in the store, on certain books there will be a little lend me thingy in the corner. What does this mean? Thanks!

What are some fun things to do this summer?

I'm turning 14 this summer, and I'm so excited! Last summer I broke my wrist so my summer ended early and I didn't get to finish It with a bunch of fun activities! Before I broke my wrist I biked all over town with my best friend and I'm expecting to do the same this year.So here's the guidelines for myself: I can bike to a pool, and multiple schools, one high school one middle school one elementary. The middle school has a tennis court you can assess and the elementary school has a baseball field. I can bike to a pool, multiple stores (target, Fred Meyers, Barnes and Noble, michaels, bed bath and beyond, baskin Robbins etc.) a movie theatre, and my best friends house. I'm guessing these are all within A range of 5 miles of my house.So, what is a list of fun things to do this summer?

I rent my books from the public library and dowload them onto my nook and today it wouldn't let me read them. When I clicked on a book it said "error dialog, user not activated." I tried getting a new book and that doesn't work as well. Can anyone help?

Okay, i think i better start off by saying that i own a cat and a rabbit, of which the rabbit lives in the garage, and the cat at nights! I don't often bring my rabbit inside, but i give him the love and affection he needs where he is. Anyway ever since i bought him (about 3 months ago) he had a little black bug crawling around his fur, it would appear but then disappear when i'd try to pinch the little bugger with my finger nails. Anyway i had my rabbit in one afternoon a few days back, it was for about 3-4 hours, and i wonder if the whatever it was, was transferred onto my bed sheets? Around about the same night, if not one after, i started getting, what looked like, heat bumps on my legs, kneecaps, had a few on my arm, and one on my stomach, mainly being around my ankle/leg. I just thought that they were heat bumps, but over the past day, i've realised that, these so called bumps can't be heat bumps because they are way too consistent and frequent. I just walking into my bedroom and sat down, put my laptop on my knee and thought i'd just check a few things, and i can feel this funny tingling on the inside of my thigh, i look under where my laptop is, and this little flea jumps from my thigh to my arm. I took no hesitation to pinch him up put him on a piece of paper and kill it.It's definately dead now! I'm just asking, if there's one, will there be a high chance there is any more? I know the next step is too probably wash all my bed sheets, dry them, and hoover ever nook and cranny there is, just for safe measures! Just asking for an opinion off of someone who is experienced and knows what there on about? I know usually when there's one, there's a hundred more, but this is the first one i have seen! I'll sleep tonight, and see if there's anymore bites on me tomorrow, if not then a good sign hey?

I got a nook for Christmas yay and I was wondering how do you change your settings on the nook to be able to download apps from online and not just the nook store. I have this free ebook app on my phone that I got off the web and I love it! What 7 inch tablet should I buy?

I was looking at the nexus 7 for its pure android 4.2 and its HSPA+ capability, the Nook HD for its screen, microSD slot and battery life and the Kindle Fire HD for the content, but if there are other tablets suited to my needs please mention them.

I will primarily use it on the go, instead of bringing my bulky laptop for decent screen size web browsing and fast connectivity. I like personalizing my devices but not to a large extent. Also I have had an iPod Touch since 2009 and I've downloaded lots of apps with it.

It will also be used for movies, music (maybe) and reading. I want it to be light, thin and portable. If a 9inch tablet does all those things, great, but after a bit of research I fing 7 inch tablets are king of that market.

I'm planning a trip with friends for senior graduation which will cost about $1, 500. I'm currently a sophomore so I want to get a job so I can pay for the trip. The only problem is I have never had a job before and don't know where to start. I would like to work at Barnes and nobles but it may not be reasonable because it's a sort of long drive and I don't know how much they'd pay a 16 year old who would only work part time in the summer. My cat may or may not be finished giving birth?

While I have some experience in kittening, this particular birth is puzzling. This will be my cat, Mimi's, fourth litter. She gave birth to her first baby at 5:38 am this morning. Afterward, she attempted to move the baby twice. She went into the closet after having the kitten at the nook at the foot of our bed. Still, she seemed unsatisfied. After about an hour of keeping the baby in the closet, she settled back in the nook she originally gave birth in. She has so far not attempted to move the baby again. Also, I am unsure of whether or not she is finished giving birth. Her belly is still distended, though there have not been any contractions for over 12 hours. She is still very anxious and often yowls at me if I even go two feet away from her. She is still licking at her genitals and abdomen every now and again. I am mostly perplexed because her previous litters have turned out five, four, and finally eight kittens. I find it unusual that she seems to have just one this time. I plan to take her to the vet tomorrow since that is when my check comes in. However, I am still concerned and would like to know if anyone else has had such an experience.

Right now I am reading a book on c++. After I read this book(and probably another) I want to get into opengl.Is c++ the programming language for opengl? If not, what is? Also, the book I am reading is called Beginning C++ Through Game Programming by Mike Dawson. I was reading the reviews for this book and they were pretty much saying it is just a reference book. Have any of you read it.Is it really just a reference book that won't teach me a lot? I am on chapter 5 (of 10) and am feeling like I've learned a lot, but am I really not learning that much? This sounds like such a stupid question but I got Catching Fire in Hardcover for Christmas and I have Hunger Games in Paperback, I'm one of those weird people that prefer to have there series of books either all in paperback or all in hardcover. Besides I don't get the point of spending $18 on the same book that you can get for like $8. Anyways this book came from Barnes & Nobles so I called them to ask if they had the book in paperback (they told the person that bought it for me that it's not yet been released in paperback) so the woman rudely told me that it's not released in paperback… I googled it and on Amazon there is a book listed in paperback… Can anyone verify that the book is indeed in paperback??? I stole from Barnes and Noble?

So back in the beginning of October my friends and I use to hang out in Barnes and Nobles. One day I saw some Harry Potter knick knacks that where about 8 dollars each.Me being broke as ever thought I'd steal them. I took them onto the second level and sat in isle and uwrapped them behind my back. One of the guards must have saw me or something because then all the security guards were walking back and forth past our isle and eyeing us. When we were about to walk out the door they asked us to do 'random back checks'. The security guard who was checking us asked me where the three boxes that I took upstairs were and I said I left them there. They told me to go get them but instead of getting the empty boxes I got 3 new boxed from the display case upstairs and we left.
That was back in the beginning of October and It's the end of December now but I haven't got back since. I love books and I really want to go back but I don't want to get in trouble.So the question is: What would happen if I go back in to B&N?

My Nook HD won't let me add pdf files from my MacBook?

I just got a Nook HD and I installed MyNook onto my laptop but whenever I try to open it, it says that it is not compatible with Mac OS x. I even tried downloading Nook for Mac but it said the same thing.My Mac is completely up to date. I downloaded Adobe Reader but I don't know how to put the files on my Nook. There are no folders when I open the Nook icon so I can't add it to My Documents as other websites were saying to do. I don't know what to do at this point. I called Nook tech support and Barnes and Noble and they were no help.

I downloaded Adobe Digital Editions to her desktop computer and we borrowed 4 books from the library. WHen i went to plus the nook in ade did not recognize it but the computer did

reinstalling ade
plugging nook in before or after opening ade

I just got a nook hd for christmas and I was crushed when I found out Ithey didn't have a lot of apps. And well tumblr is one of them.So I figured id use the web browser. And it keeps getting stuck!!! And freezes on top of taking forever to load. I am in college now and since i am an engineering major, most of my text books are on science and technology with lots of diagrams and pictures. I received the Nook Simple Touch as a gift from a relative in the UK, but I live in the US. How can I change the settings for it to be used in the US? For example, the prices in the store are in pounds instead of dollars. Thanks in advance!
Added (1). I just tried the account thing, but it did not work. What happened is the gift was bought in the UK and it was set up in the US, but it seems to be configured for the UK, and have nothing to do with the account. How can I change the device so it's set up for the US?

Vanilla Visa gift card help?

Last night I used a Vanilla Visa Gift Card given to me as a gift to purchase 3 DVDs from Barnes & Noble's website. Now, I have done the research and have seen that some gift cards can be problematic while trying to shop online, specifically the Vanilla Visa because you can only register it with your zip code, and not your full address. Consequently, I have seen many other post that for this reasons, their orders have been rejected.My question is: I used the gift card, the order went through, I got an email confirming my order, and then 20 minutes later got another e-mail saying my order was prepared to ship. Would I have known very quickly if the card was denied and my order nullified? It has been about 16-17 hours and the order status on B&N's website has not changed, just lists details, etc. I have called their phone service and it has not yet shipped, but like I said I got an e-mail saying it was ready to ship. Although I'd be very happy if the gift card actually worked, I am very skeptical still and would like to know if I would have known by now if the transaction was not going to work. Thank you.

Why do my sibblings get everything?

I'm the oldest in the family and my 2 sibblings seem to get everything. For some background I'm 14, my sister is 12 and my brother is 9. I have so many chores to do like vacuuming, cleaning th bathroom, the kitchen, dishes, laundry, trash. They don have single chore. Another example, I could watch family guy, souh park, etc. ( very thankful I even get to say the name of the shows). They got to see it when they were in 3rd grade and 6th, not 8th like me last year. Best E-Reader for Nook Books?

I'm looking to get an e-reader. However, most of the books I read are manga and the only ebook store that really has a somewhat good selection in Barnes and Noble's Nook Books. Nook problem syncing with adobe digital editions?

I was having problems syncing my nook with my computer adobe digital editions (ade). I knew my mom had a working ade and I had to go there anyways, so I thought I would try it. I deactivated the ade from her user name and reactivated it with my name. Even after i restarted my computer, ade reconginzed my name but her items. Aren't ebooks suppose to stick to your id not your computer? How can I retrieve my items that are with my id?

My nook color WILL NOT load?

I have a nook color, an dit will not load a webpage.It just stops an inch into, and it will not go further. I turned it off an dturned it back on all the way, but it will still not do it after many times. I thoight it was too overloaded, so i erased half my bookmarks and all my history. I was at Hollister, and I was carrying my Forever 21 bag with my Forever 21 sweater, and a Barnes and Noble CD in it. I didn't buy anything in Hollister.As I exited the store, the alarm went off, and I stopped. Three employees, probably about 18 or 19 years old, ran out, and one of the guys said "Can I see your bag?" not in a kind way. I am still in my teens, and I got really nervous just because of the whole situation. I handed him my bag, and he dug through it and took out the sweater, and took out the Barnes and Noble bag, took out the CD. He took the sweater and waved it through the door a couple times, while I just stood there. Afterwards, he just said "Oh that's weird. Sorry about that", not in an apologetic tone.As I turned to leave, his friend/fellow employees laughed. I later learned at Forever 21 that the CD was what set off the alarms. When I was leaving Forever 21 again, the alarm went off, and a girl came over. Instead of accusing me, she just asked "Do you want me to make sure we took off the sensor? Sometimes we leave it on." I opened my bag, and she saw the CD, and simply just said "Oh, you're good.It was probably just the CD." And I left. I just want to know if Hollister had the right to sift through my bags. I know I gave it to him, but he was rude, intimidating, and accusing, and he caught me off guard, unlike the Forever 21 employee.

What is the best tablet for $200?

I am looking to buy a new tablet.It will actually be my first. I have a laptop, but want a tablet just for watching movies & surfing the web. I am looking to spend $200 maybe a little more, if I have too. Absolutely no more then $250. Since I am buying a new virgin mobile cell for $150-$200.So between the two I will be spending almost $500.

Anyway, I want 16GB of memory. I would like something that is fast, durable that doesn't smudge much or leave fingerprints. Something with droid 4.0 or higher.

I am looking at several tabs, but I figure I should ask anyone who may own one of these. If they are a good buy or just to avoid. I am sure this will help others too.My first choice was the Kindle Fire HD. When I was looking at a review of it online. I saw a review for a nexus 7. Then I saw a few more & it became a harder decision to make. I will just list the ones I am looking at below. If you know of one that may be better then these. Feel free to let me know. I haven't heard anything bad about the kindle fire hd, except amazon is to cheap to give you a charger. They just give you a cord to charge it via usb from a laptop. They charge $19.99 for their charger. You can buy a generic charger for $5-$10. I saw a complaint about the nexus 10 & screen issues. I wonder if that carries over to the 7. I would like as much feedback as possible.So if you own one of the above & just want to review that. I would be happy to see what you have to say. I want the pros & cons.

I have a BN membership so I normally buy my books through them to get the free express shipping. I buy most, if not all of my video games from Amazon, so naturally I will do price compares between the two sites on books. A lot of times I will find that both places will have the books for the same exact price. I'm not talking ebooks, I'm talking physical ones. And the prices are not commonly set prices either. For example, $7.47.It seems odd that these two feuding companies would price their books the same. Nook vs Kindle and all that.

Okay second hour we had an announcement about the Sandy Nook Shooting, and to tell the truth I knew nothing about the shooting. We were supposed to have a moment of silence for all who had perished in it. During the middle of the moment, a friend of mine sitting next me goes "Quack", me and another friend who was sitting on the other side of my first friend couldn't help ourselves, and we started laughing. I knew it wasn't funny, and I shouldn't have laughed, but I couldn't help myself! And then one of the tutors comes up to me and Wes, and starts yelling at us saying how we shouldn't have laughed at such a serious issue. I don't know anything about the shooting. I still can't get over how so many people use Kindles and Nooks. I prefer an actual book. A lot of technology I agree with but not this one and its so disappointing that people use Kindles and Nooks.

What are some good paying jobs to have in college?

I'm going to a community college next year.My parents are helping with the tuition, so I won't be worrying about that. I will be moving into an apartment with some roommates near the campus, so I can take care of my two cats. The monthly pay per person is about $345, and monthly fees for the cats are $35 per cat. That's about $415, not to mention other fees during school and such. I'm going to get my GenEds(math, science, general core classes), out of the way. I live in a city where there will be plenty of jobs, and I will be getting several jobs this summer to save up money. I do have a job at the moment, but I'm part-time because of my grades. I have a lovely boss.
The places I am thinking of working at are: Barnes and Noble, a movie theatre, an antique shop, a restaurant. I think I will also freelance critique writing for other students, because I have a great deal of writing experience and people respect my opinion when it comes to writing, stories, etc.
So my question is, while I wouldn't turn my nose up at a minimum wage job, I want a job or jobs that will be able to pay me well-enough to be able to pay for myself and my cats. Please post helpful answers.Do not tell me to get rid of my cats. The apartment I am looking at is the only one I could find that is near the campus and is pet-friendly. Also, to current college students, what do you do for a job? If so, what is your schedule like? Issue with barnes and noble?

I had sent a gift card from barnes and noble.com to my sister earlier in the month..as of the 10th, which it was sent she has not yet received it. I had contacted customer service and the apologized and said they would follow up on it and send a replacement..it takes 12-24 hours to respond, although i had not gotten the 1st email to confirm, i had sent out another inquiry and still waiting on that one. Has anyone here had any bad experiences.

How does Fifty Shades Freed end?

I read the first book and almost done with the second. The books are horribly written, the plot is non-existent. The characters are predictable and upsetting.It is a big burden trying to finish this second book. I hate starting a book and not finishing it, so I am forcing myself to finish the last 100 pages. Anyway, even though I bought the third book (Fifty Shades Freed) on my Nook, I know I won't be reading it.

I was going to get the Kindle Fire for myself because I want a ereader and do not like going to the library to get books anymore. I still feel like a child?

I'm 18 years old, I work 40 hours a week. I have a girlfriend who I want to marry. I'm in the DEP for the Air Force. I plan on going to school and then joining the navy and going SEAL. I try and try again to act like a man, basically my three flaws are as follow: lazy, undependable and have a quick temper. I don't look like a man, and I don't act like one. I act like a child and it sickens me, I want to be a SEAL one day and I can't even pay money when someone asks me to or remember simple ***. I just am constantly trying to act like a man, but the result is acting like a child trying to be a man. For instance, I was at the Barnes and noble bookstore tonight, my girlfriend kept saying she had to go home because it was getting late, then she knocked over a pile of books, now a man would've said okay honey, lets get going right after I look at one more thing and helped her pick up the books. Not me. I swore and walked away. When I see guys do that stuff I want to punch them in the face. For me to have done that I feel sick. Seriously. Are you conservatives aware that grade school children touch everything in the room?

I like guns. I own about 50 mainly inherited from my father and uncle. But a grade school classroom is no place for a loaded gun. I teach fifth grade for the Los Angeles Unified School District, in a ghetto. And the kids get into virtually every nook and cranny of the room and steal, and destroy, and touch stuff. The only way I could teach (and NO ONE in hot, hot, hot Los Angeles wears a coat to teach) is with a loaded handgun on my hip in a (hopefully) grab proof holster.

I cannot teach little kids with a loaded gun on my hip. Can't be done. Issues of trust and whatnot.

I asked two teachers to write a college recommendation for me. I already got into 2 of the colleges I applied to and haven't gotten a rejection letter yet. I hand wrote thank you notes for each of them but I also wanted to get something else for them. They're both men. One of them doesn't like coffee -- so no Dunkin' Donuts or Starbucks gift cards. How about gift cards to Barnes & Noble (one of the teachers is an English teacher and the other loves reading)? Tell me what you think about the B&N gift card and also any other ideas would be awesome.

Also, don't tell me not to get them a gift and that it's weird. I've already decided that getting a nice gift for them would be the right thing to do.

I have liked this guy who is older than me by a year for 2 years. Idk why but, I just find him cute and really nice! Whenever I am around him, I become really aware of my surroundings! From the reviews I have read the Nook seems to be much more limited and setup in a way to force you into buying Barnes and Noble content, while the Google allows you more freedom.Is that correct?

I was able to get a brand new Nook HD+ for 50% off, due to a retailers poor wording in a coupon. While the price I got it for was superb, I am thinking about just selling it on Craigslist and using the money to buy a Nexus.

How exactly are eBooks sold?

I had a few concerns and am very puzzled as to just how you're supposed to sell an eBook online.

1. I was originally under the impression that if you publish an eBook, you can ONLY choose ONE online retailer to sell it on (Amazon, Google, eBooks.com, Barnes & Noble, etc.).

However, I just browsed through all three sites, and I found that most books, including books such as the Twilight and Hunger Games series, are being sold on Amazon's Kindle Store, Google Play, barnesandnoble.com, AND ebooks.com (and I'm assuming other places as well) simultaneously.

These are eBooks for download, not hardcover/print, and they are for sale.

So what's the deal here?

I was told that you had to choose ONE retailer and give them the rights to EXCLUSIVELY sell for up to TWO years (and hand over 25-35% of the profits).Is that true or not?

So why are these books being sold EVERYWHERE? Is there some kind of double standard in place here for "established" or "successful" authors?

2.In addition, Google Play states that eBooks purchased from them can be viewed online, on your computer, AND on various mobile devices …

… while Amazon just calls their the "Kindle" version and state that you need a KINDLE reader in order to read them.

Doesn't that severely cripple the number of potential customers if you try to sell an eBook on Amazon?

Am I missing something here? I must be.

Because I also remember hearing that you could read eBooks downloaded in various file formats on OTHER tablet PCs (such as the iPad) as long as you downloaded an app from Amazon or another retailer that could "convert" their file formats into something that the iPad (or other tablet) can read?

3. Can eBooks be COPIED or not? Meaning if someone purchases them, do they have complete control over the digital file? Could they then make multiple copies and send them to friends/family (so that they wouldn't have to buy their own)? If so, wouldn't that hurt not only an author's digital sales, but also sales of physical copies? And if you are UNABLE to make a copy of the file, then what happens if the storage medium containing the eBook file gets damaged or destroyed (and you effectively lose the book)? Then do you have to REBUY what you already paid for if you want it back? If the retailer lets you redownload for free, how could you prove that the digital copy was lost at all?

Is there some sort of encryption or something that prevents the eBook from being read on a device that isn't logged into an account associated with the purchase? That's close to how PlayStation Network and Xbox Live manage their downloaded content, so I would imagine that that would be the most logical method.

But the whole system just doesn't make much sense to me.
