Hi, I was planning on buying a kindle, until recently i've been hearing a lot that the screen tends to freeze after a year. I've been seeing lately the Nook advertised (I'm from the UK so it's only just been released over here) and I was wondering if anyone knew if they were any good as I've not been able to find any reviews on them.
Can you still download books from amazon on to them, or do you have to go through another electronic library?
Also, if I was to buy the Nook with the torch in it, is this still as good for your eyes as a kindle? I'm sure that I read that it is e-ink, but I wondered if because it had a torch, would that cause eye strain?

Hi there. I really like my boss as a friend (ok, maybe a little more than friends). He is one of the nicest and most openminded men I've ever met because while many employers would find an excuse to fire me, he did not fire me for transitioning from male to female and instead said I had his support. Not just that, there are so many good things about him. He just told me he's going through a separation with his wife. I would like to leave him an anonymous gift because I want him to know that he is loved and appreciated by his people, especially during this hard time. But I don't want him to know the gift is from me because I don't want him to think I'm obsessed or creepy.

1) I'm thinking about getting him a Nook which is an Android-tablet made by Barnes & Noble.It will NOT cost me anything because I will be using my credit card's miles on it. The tablet is worth $100. I thought it would be a great gift because his cell phone is Android-powered and he travels a lot so I'm sure it would be nice to have a bigger screen to access Facebook, watch movies, read, etc.Is this a good gift or it's too much? If too much, what should I get him?

2) I refuse to use my name but should I add a short message saying something like he's a good person or just leave the gift blank? Should I leave it on his desk when everyone leaves or have USPS send the package to our workplace anonymously? If it's left on his desk, he'll know it's one of his workers. If it's from the mail, he could also think it could be one of his clients.

I just purchased a KindleFire for an Israeli friend, because I know he wants to read books in Hebrew and I assumed he could download Hebrew ebooks. Now I'm finding it might be very difficult for him.Is there a different device I could purchase instead? I need the gift in the next 2 weeks. I've looked at the Nook and Nexus7, but none of them say if they can display Hebrew eBooks.
*The eVrit website looks awesome, I've seen him reading some of the printed novels they list for sale as ebooks. But I cannot figure out how to buy an eVrit device.

What's the best book light to use with The Nook?

My mom is buying my daughter The Nook for Christmas. I thought these things required some sort of attachable reading light to be able to read at night. We DON'T like the LED lights because they are too harsh on the eyes.

32GB SDHC card shrank down to 53.6MB. How do I fix this?

I bought a 32GB SanDisk SDcard (bought from Best Buy, so it's not a fake) for the purpose of adding extra space to my Nook Tablet. Originally, when I put it in it showed that I had 29.7GB of space. After rooting the tablet using my sd, my computer now shows I only have 53.6MB of space left, even after re-formatting the card multiple times? Did I screw myself over, or is there a way to fix this?

I need an honest answer and yes I have done a lot of research but now Im confused as ever. I want to invest in a tablet but I don't know which one. The things I know I will do the most on it is read, netflix, watch movies, internet and draw. I was looking into the samsung tab 2 7.0, nexus 7 and the nook hd+ but again Im being pull in every which way.

With the economy, I don't have tons of money to invest in one so staying close to or under $250 is very important. Being able to get the barnes and noble app is also very important (my sister has a nook so I would prefer to "lend" books back and forth.) And a good drawing app is a must: D

So I want to buy my fiancée a nice tablet for Christmas but I'm really stuck on deciding which to get here. Looking for a little help.

I'm down to the 3 listed above the KFHD, Nexus 7, or Nook HD I just need to know a few things if you could help.

I don't see her using it for much more then reading books (she loves to read) and maybe watching some movies, she isn't a huge technology person she plays a few games online here and there but nothing serious.

I just want to get her the right one that she'll get a great display on, be able to find the books she wants, and she can enjoy for some time.

Kindle Paperwhite 3G or Nook?

I am looking to buy an eReader for my wife for Christmas. I have read so many different reviews on these. She truly will use this only for reading. I read reviews that it's hard to see while being outside. She loves to read whether were home, at a doctor's office, or even at the beach. I want a good reader so she will have no problems when trying to read. Which one would you guys prefer and also is it easy to read even in the sun if there is a glare? I see many different kind of kindles but the one that caught my attention is either the Kindle Paperwhite 3G or the Kindle Paperwhite. Also, are you able to access Facebook from these? Added (1). Thanks for the answers guys… How is the Kindle in the sun. Like say if your reading it at the beach. I know when I use my iPhone in the sun, it gets hard to read so I have to adjust the brightness and make it brighter so it's easier to see what i'm doing.

I can not get rid of fleas! Help, I'm at my wits end!

We noticed a flea infestation in our home and on our INDOOR cat about 3 weeks ago. Since then, we have bombed every room, vacuumed every nook and cranny, sprayed all our carpets with pyrethrin, bathed the cat twice, washed everything we own, and treated the cat with frontline. We vacuum every day, and brush the cat with a flea comb. Then, a few days ago I noticed more bites on my legs. When I combed the cat, I found 10 vibrant jumping fleas.So, we bombed, sprayed, cleaned our house again and bathed the cat in flea shampoo. I am still finding many fleas on him! What else are we to do? I do think I can afford to keep treating my home or my cat. Please help!

Every once in a while my Nook Simple Touch shifts around in my satchel and the font settings get shifted for my daily New York Times.It seems like there is a default setting that makes all the word paginate correctly, but I only find it after a lot of trial and error. Why is the n on my nook cord turning red?

Its just sitting there not even connected to my nook, i took it an plugged it somewhere else but the moment i connected the charger on an outlet the "n" turned red. I had just recently gotten the nook tablet a month or two ago, and i dont think it has a warranty because i won it in a contest at my school.It seems to charge my nook normally, if i connect it to my nook the "n" turns a normal yellow/orange/green. Why did the n on my Nook Tablet charger suddenly turn red?

Ok. I've had my Nook Tablet for a while now with little to no problems. Really, the only problem I've had was that it froze on the home screen but it was fine and it needed a charge the next morning. Now when charging my nook, the n on the charger was green, even though it wasn't totally fully charged, which I'm used to.It had 97%. The suddenly the n turned red and I'm not sure why! Does this mean the charger will stop working or???

My nook simple touch fell off my desk and now it won't unlock!

It fell off and when I try to unlock it, it does nothing. I think the screen froze? I can also kind of see my home page behind the screen saver. I have tried holding the on/off switch as well for about 10-20 seconds and did the same with the "n" button. There are no scratches, the screen isn't broken it looks perfectly fine! What can I do?

Why are audiobooks on cd so expensive?

I am looking at the first True Blood book, Dead Until Dark, and the audio CD is the version I need (it's a gift). On Barnes and Noble's website, the paperback is about $8, an MP3 (unabridged) is about $25, and an audio CD version (unabridged) is almost $60.

I see this trend in many books and don't understand. I get that an audio version will cost more than print, but how is the CD set over twice as much, or about $35 more than an MP3? Yes the CDs themselves and packaging cost money to produce but THAT much more? And shipping is separate so, I'm at a loss.

My nook color wont charge!

I got my nook two days ago and its working fine but then when I try to charge it, the light on the charger is green indicating that the nook is fully chrged but when I look at the batery status it says its charging but the percentage of battery left gets lower everytime and so now it is dead. Is my landlord required to paint and clean in between tenants? I moved into an apartment recently. When I viewed the place (through a rental company) someone was still living here. The building is over 100 years old and I kid you not, there are areas that look like they have NEVER seen water and a sponge. Here's the kicker: WE HAD TO PAY A SECURITY DEPOSIT. For what exactly? If I were to never clean again for the entirety of our lease, we would STILL be leaving the place in better condition than it was given to us in. Obviously I'm rambling here, so let me get to the heart of my question: Prior to a tenant moving in, is my landlord required to:

-Repair holes in walls
-Return the color of the walls to a neutral color
-Ensure the rental is clean
-Ensure included appliances are in working condition

Secondly, what can now be done about everything? If I paint (or hire a painter) can I deduct that from my rent? What about cleaning costs, especially since it has been so long? Is there really any action at all that can be taken? What if I have had been able to attend to this sooner, THEN could I have really done anything about it? My boyfriend (whom I live with) has been telling me to give it a rest, but I am the one having to take the brunt of the cleaning now that my hours have been cut back at work from 50+ (part of the reason this has taken so long). For as much as I pay for this apartment (I live in Chicago) I really don't feel as though I should have to live in a dump with holes in the walls and caked on dirt lurking in every corner.Am I wrong in thinking that? Am I just screwed here?

USPS cannot track package?

I ordered a Nook color from direct deals.com and I was sent an email this morning with the tracking number stating the item had been shipped. I was on my iPhone so I was able to just click the number and was directed to the website to track it. However a red error pops up saying, "Delivery status information is not available for your item via this website. A return receipt after mailing may be available at your local post office".

Anyone know why this is? I know sometimes people said it can be shipped via fed ex but say USPS but I even checked the number on that site too

I have a room that I want to turn into my man cave. I'm 16, and I have about $300 for a budget, and my parents are getting me a futon/ cheap couch thingy for Christmas.My room is average size, about 12 feet by 13 feet, and there also is a small nook. I want to keep my computer desk and my bed, and that's about it. I am pretty good with my hands, and can build anything for pretty cheap. I actually built a coffee table waiting to go in my room. I want it not to be a traditional bedroom, I want it to be a lounge that just happens to have a bed in it. Any suggestions?

I was thinking on buying a portable device to read and I just wanted to have some suggestions as to which device do you think it would be best and why. I want a touchscreen device since I find it more comfortable to use while reading. I mostly read while laying in bed so I need to take that into consideration while buying a device since I want to be comfortable while reading. I would like to know which device do you think would be better to buy and why? From the things both of them offer, which one would be better? I know that they are both in black and white, so do you think it would be better to pay the extra cash to get a color one? Like I said before, I only want it to read but if the colored ones have anything extra that you think would be worth spending more money on, then please let me know. Is there a set amount of days you have to return a book to Barnes and Noble?

I understand that I need my receipt (which I have) and that the book needs to be in almost perfect shape, but is there a certain amount of days I have before I can't return it after I purchased it? I looked on the website and it didn't give any set days to refund it actually in the store unlike sending it back via mail.So does anyone know if there is a such policy in terms of deadline for returns at Barnes and Noble? Is this a good start for my story?

So basically my story is about six young adults and teenagers on the Titanic who become unlikely friends but meet different fates:

George Lawler's limousine pulled up to Rockefeller Hall. The outside was all lit up with bright lights. Across the top of the entrance a sign said "The Unsinkable Ship: Titanic's 50 Anniversary". George shuddered a little bit as is cheauffer assisted him out.

There were a collection of unfamiliar faces and faces that were all too familiar despite the half a century they had aged. George was 64 though he still kept his beautiful blue eyes, sturdy build, perfect teeth, great smile and his thick shiny hair that was more of a dark grey-black now.

The crowd migrated into the great ballroom that had hundreds of round tables set up with a large podium at the far end. George searched for his spot and when he did find it, he plopped down at the empty table.

George took a swig of the black coffee before him. He winced from the heat of the coffee.

Suddenly George felt a warm, soft hand on his shoulder and a raspy voice whisper next to his ears: "You have evil eyes". George whipped around to see an aged but familiar face. Her eyes were the same: black and beautiful like onyxes. Her hair hadn't grayed and was still long. Her skin was still swarthy and smooth. Her smile could still light up a room.It was Sarah.

Sarah's voice returned to its soft, feminine tone as she landed gracefully next to him. "That's still as scary as it was 50 years and 4 days ago", George replied.

"Aye", she said "I haven't seen you in a quarter century". True, but whenever George saw her, he still saw the helpless, beautiful girl grasping for him but not reaching. "I wish the others were here", she was talking about their four friends they met, loved and lost in four days.

Then, a scale replica of the Titanic was rolled past them. Every nook and cranny was the same. The the memory came back. George closed his eyes and drifted off into a world of Titanic.

Why am I having so much trouble with getting a part time job?

I am 21 and in school at a local University studying computer science. I have done a lot volunteer work in my day.

I don't have a whole lot of work experience but one thing I have done is a job working for the admissions department at the last school I was at where we traveled all across a few states, sang in an a capella group, and recruited for the school.It was just four of us and we basically did the job of admissions counselors because we often did not travel with an admission counselor and did basically whatever we were asked to do.In turn I was paid 5000 over the summer and tuition during the year which amounts to 21, 000 dollars for the year (which is not a bad salary as far as "unskilled" salaried work goes I should think). The difficult thing is that even though that required an enormous amount of responsibility it's hard to put down on a part time job application all of this and it make sense to an employer.

3 years ago I was hired at a movie theater as a seasonal worker in the summer and was told that I needed to call them to work whenever I get back in to town after fall semester was over and I never did.It might be stupidly obvious that this might be my problem but it seems to me that it would be so long ago that I don't think it's making a difference.In any case should I be putting them as a work experience.

I have applied multiple times to Target: before the summer, after the summer, and before the holiday season, and no interviews at all. I have applied to Staples, Books a Million, Barnes and Noble, Home Depot, Petco, Kohls, I have made countless follow up calls (sometimes for the same application) and so far no interviews at all… I don't know if I am secretly blacklisted in the area or if this is normal but I don't understand what I am doing wrong. Also I would love advice as to how I would make myself more appealing to employers on my applications or how I could specifically follow up in order to get a job.

I have had a walk in interview at a new opening firehouse subs and the lady said that she would call me and not to give up on her but I would start after thanksgiving and i went in today to ask about it and she wasn't there but i was told she would be there after 11 am so I am planning on going about 2:30 to catch her at a hopefully not busy time. I'm definitely not a cocky person in the slightest but I will admit to being picky with jobs so I will try more fast food places. Should I leave off the theater job in my work experiences or does it matter?
