Why buy a nook/kindle?

Im thinking i might want to ask for a nook hd+ for christmas but im not really sure why i shouldnt ask for some other tablet like an ipad or even a new computer in which i can just download the kindle app and use that.my question is basically is what, if any, are the benifits of buying a nook hd+ over an ipad or new computer where the kindle app can be downloaded for free.

Difference in tablets?

I'm confused about why certain tablets cost more then others.

Like the new Galaxy Tab 2 (https://blackfriday.bestbuy.com/door+busters/product/6815824/samsung++galaxy+tab+2+70+with+8gb+memory++white) is around $350,

Yet the Nook HD+ (http://www.barnesandnoble.com/p/nook-hd-plus-barnes-noble/1110060512) is roughly $279, and actually seems like the specs are better all around.

Then there is the new Ipad (https://blackfriday.bestbuy.com/apple/product/4881072/applereg++ipadreg+with+retina+display++16gb+with+wifi) which is roughly $500, and doesn't seem all that great.

So, am I missing something. Why is it that some seem worse then other, yet cost more? I am leaning towards the Nook, but I don't know if it is the best choice since I don't understand why it is the cheapest of the three.

Help fixing a nook tablet?

My little 14 year old sister took her Nook tablet to school today and kept it in her back pack which is packed full. Really, not a good idea. Sometime during the day, she threw her backpack down and the nook was bent slighty. Just enough to minorly crack the screen in 2 places along the left side. There are lines and colors and shapes that are definitely not supposed to be there on the display and the touch capabilities aren't working. We aren't sure if this is covered under warranty (pretty sure it's not) so how do we fix it? Can we still take it to B&N to have it looked at even if we don't have a warranty? If so how much will it cost? or is there some way i could fix it myself? Help! My sister feels guilty and is very upset and i'm looking for something that will make her feel a little better. How can we fix her tablet???

If you use free wi-fi can the establishment track/trace what websites you visit?

Say you own an ipad/smart tablet/phone that's not in service and you go to a Mcdonalds or Barnes n Nobles (any such place that offers free wifi) and connect to the internet once you log into Terms and Conditions (which I never read cuz it's to long) could they track what websites you visit? If so, I don't see how.

Should I learn Korean?

I have two questions. I have wanting to learn Korean language I watch the dramas and stuff. And I have enjoyed and love it expect my mom isn't liking the idea much. She always saying I should learn spanish first since I don't live in Asia and stuff like that and spanish is more helpful. But I can learn spanish in school anytime I want I just don't want to yet. Building plans for breakfast nook style table?

We are a homeschooling family and therefore spend a lot of time at our kitchen table doing school work and arts and crafts, etc. I would really like to invest in a breakfast nook style table. However, the "good ones" (comfy and cozy) are ridiculously expensive. But the design is often so simple, I really think my husband and I could build it ourselves. Best buy in store pickup?

My Birthday was on the 2nd, my dad pre ordered the new nook HD from barnes & noble online for, but something was wrong on their end, so we just canceled that.
I'm getting a Kindle Fire HD Now(what i should've got in the first place!), so my dad told me that we could order it from best buy online and just pick it up in the store, thing is… my dad doesn't live with us, so my question is if my dad orders it online with his credit card and stuff can i still pick it up, i'm guessing all I would need is my order code and maybe some sort of other code to pick it up with?

I own a 4th generation Ipod at the moment and the downfalls of it is it's all I need but in too small of size. Carb cleaners vs cleaning carbs?

So I'm new to riding, I just got a used '97 Suzuki Bandit 600S and I LOVE it! The guy said that the bike was sitting for a while, but my dad ran his usual inspection on it and everything seemed to be running fine.It's running fine, but I know that it could run better, my dad seems to think that the carbs could use a "good ol' cleaning".My dads on a cruise for the next week so I cant ask him this, so I'm going to be asking the community this: How big is the difference (if any) between running carb cleaner (i.e. Seafoam) through the tank and actually taking out the carbs and taking them apart and cleaning every nook and cranny. Now I know it seams like the answer is obvious, but if it's better to just take them off and clean them, sync them, and throw 'em back on then why did someone even decide to make carb cleaners? I'm also going to do a tune-up myself (growing up my dad showed me a bunch of stuff with bike and I know the basics). I'm going to change the plugs, fuel, oil, and air filters, oil (obviously), and when I hit 15k miles I'm going to change the chain and sprockets (did I leave anything out?) I'm also going to sync the carbs after I clean them, does anyone have any info on if the home-made ones work just as well as the $100 ones? Don't try telling me to bring it to a shop! The reason I bought an older used bike is so I could train myself to work on bikes so when I get a nice, new bike later on, I can work on it myself without any question.

I've decided to get my husband a Nook SimpleTouch for Christmas.
He's not an avid reader, but I think having an e-reader will boost his interest in reading.

I have the first nook, and I've had it since just a little while after it came out.It's still works just fine, and I love it. The battery is getting annoying quick to go out, but I expected that…

But should I get myself a new one, the matching counterpart to my husband's, or does that detract from the gift?
I know he won't buy me one, and I'd like to upgrade to the newer model…
The other thing I'm thinking about is buying myself an iPad. I've wanted one for a while, and while they're most certainly not the same thing, I cannot justify the expenditure on both for myself.

Nook stuck on loading screen?

So I just got this Nook Color for my birthday and it was working fine but then it died.So I turned it on after it charged a bit and it went all fine but now it's stuck at the loading screen that says "nookcolor by Barnes & Nobles." it's not frozen because the letters flash like normal, but I don't think I can turn off the Nook either. Can I both usb charge and usb host with the Nook Color?

I have rooted my Nook Color with Cyanogenmod and can host peripherals with Nook Tweaks. However, I was wondering if there was any way I could both charge and host. I came across something that said I could if I set the settings to Host Mode but not VBus, then I could charge and read.Is there any way I could do this, possibly with a usb Y cord? Thanks.

I bought books from eReader.com which is now owned by Barnes and Noble and called Fictionwise but even though I have reset my unlock code and followed their instructions, I cannot unlock them or download them. What happened? Does anyone know how I can get my books?
