Does Barnes and Noble have a security system?

I'M NOT asking because i want to break in. I'm writing a story where a kid goes in through a roof access door (already having sneaked up to the door from the inside and unlocked it) and then proceeds to steal books and take them back out through the roof access.he gets onto the roof by ladder, just in case you were wondering.what I want to know is: would a Barnes and Noble in a medium sized city in a pretty much rural state have a big security system where it would sense movement inside the store and send an alarm or if the person opened the measly roof access door without breaking anything if it would set stuff off.it doesn't have to be exactly what Barnes and Noble has (but if you know what they actually have that would be great) I'm just looking for what's most believable

Which tablet is best?

I'm looking to purchase a new tablet but I would like everyone's opinion.

I'm looking for a tablet mainly for reading. But good enough for browsing the internet as well, and playing a few games here and there.

I currently have a rooted nook tablet, but I'm so fed up with that thing, I don't care for it anymore.
My price range for a new tablet (I'm fine looking for a refurbished or used tablet) is around $100-200. Maybe a bit higher if need be, but no higher than $300. I'm not picky on screen size either.

I'm not to lenient to Apple so i'd perfer something more along the lines of Android. But if apple comes out winning I can't object to it.

Which would be better for someone who likes reading traditional books better? What feels more "traditional"? Not the Kindle HD or Nook Color. I want either the original Kindle or Nook Simple Touch because I just want them to READ, not to PLAY with.

Advice on buy a tablet for reading?

I am trying to buy a cheap tablet for the sole purpose of read technical books. I previously owned a kindle 3 and a nook but they are not meant for such purposes. Is this a good school?

I've been getting sort of skeptical about different ballet schools. I found this school and it seems AMAZING.It teaches vaganova and the chechetti method, I looked at every single nook and cranny of the website and it seems like a very prestigious school. Should I get the Harry Potter eBook collection or all of the hardcovers?

I currently have all of the books in paperback, but they are old and falling apart. I would like to either buy them all in hardcover or get the ebooks.It would be nice to have the hardcover because I know I will have them forever that way, but it is really expensive. Also, the ebooks are much cheaper and when I go to college in a few years it will be much easier for me to bring my nook (which I take everywhere with me anyways) than 7 rather large books. What should I do?
Added (1). It's pretty likely that I will be getting both sometime future, but I'm just thinking about what I should get now.

Should I feel guilty about this?

So I had to reset my nook color because of a virus from a adult website. When I had to ask my mom for the internet password, I told her it was because there was books (she got a nook with many poorly typed up books that I put on my nook, which were all free) and apps that I didn't want (which I kinda didn't, which were also free), so I thought it'd be easier to reset it. She believed what I said and told me the password again. Should I feel guilty about this? Or is it no big deal?

What kind of job should I get?

Here's the skinny (I've always wanted to say that: p): My sister, who is sixteen, applied for a job at a pretzel place. She got a call back and she's going for an interview tomorrow! I was so proud of her that I wanted to feel that pride for myself too, so I'm officially going to try to get a job. (I also want to start buying my own sh*t and save up for college) Where should I try to get one though? I'm pretty much up for anywhere except for a place that involves food. I don't know, I'm just not into that. And what if I have to cook it? O_O They'll train me of course but I'm a perfect disaster when it comes to food. I don't want to make anybody angry lol.So yeah, anywhere but a food related place. If you work somewhere, persuade me to work there too if you want. I'd love to work at Barnes and Noble (It would be an absolute dream), but mom says it's too far for her to drive everyday. :/ Killjoy.So what do you think?

So, I've heard that B&N is going to stop making in-house Nooks. Excluding the Black & White readers.
And that they will now co-produce (or some along those lines) to create color tabets. Will they still be called Nooks?
Dumb question, I know. But I really want to know. Also, what will happen to the nook shop.

Okay so i managed to save my gift card amount on my nook/bn account.i want to buy a book but it says i have to have a default payment thing and i have to have a credit card
So what do i do? Im confused

I'm 19 years old and I am currently looking for work and looking for a college. Today my mom and brother have gotten very angry at me today. How it all started was very miniscule, (well to me it was) my brother asked me to keep an eye on his character for the dungeon/raid finder notification to pop up(those who play World of Warcraft know) while he goes to get a few things from the market. About ten minutes pass and my younger brother wanted me to make him something to eat. And I guess while I was away it popped up and missed it. When he got back and noticed he got mad at me saying "Wow thanks, you can't even do that for me. (I always do those for him when he asks) When you just sit there doing nothing. (I usually be on his laptop while he is at the computer) When was the last time you filled out an application!?" I replied,"at least a week ago" Then he goes off bragging about he fills out 20 applications a week and how I treat him by giving him the cold shoulder (I usually give him that because he constantly wants to see everything I'm doing and the way he talks to me like someone talks to a 3 year old.It gets me annoyed.) and he is tired of it. And asks when the last time I washed the dishes(I said two days ago). And threatens to block my nook color from getting internet if I don't fill one out by the end of the day.

An hour an a half later i was texting my dad and my mom is half asleep and asks if I was texting him. I said yes then she gets mad at me for talking to him. (Thier divorced and she dislikes him alot) Then she goes off saying,"What do you guys even talk about! Are you talking about god?!" (Yes, I beileve in the Lord) I said we mostly ask how we both are doing. She gets even more mad at me say "oh so he doesn't even talk to your bother? Do you even tell your dad how bad he feels (or something close to that but it doesn't make sense either way. Maybe something I don't know about.) But, no it's all about you.(I don't really talk to anyone. I mostly listen to you and both brothers. I'm sorry but you guys mostly don't care or understand how I feel. I haven't tolfher that but thought it) I don't understand you. You don't work, go to school, drive, or try to lose your weight( yes, I'm overweight). You don't do anything your just existing.By the way why do you even have a password on your phone? Do you even have anything to hide? I really don't understand you."

When she said that I just exist made me think when my brother said that to me a month before. Now honestly I don't think they should talk to me like this because my brother hasn't even cleaned anything since we got this place and I did more than he did especially first three or four days we moved here I tried to keep the kitchen clean and cooked dinner straight. (Those were the days my mom would sleep all day and night) and all those other times I did that also. And what has he done! Sit at his computer and play Warcraft! When he gets back from work and not at work. Since he has no work in the summer this is what he does. And he always complains about everythig I do and he talks about himself like he's perfect.

And my mom is in the same situation as me with no job and she either goes to her friend's or sleeps for days. Sometimes she would clean and cook and she says I don't do anything.At least I don't sleep for days. Yes, I'm lazy but they should look at themselves before they point fingers.

I don't even understand what happened to make them think I'm a nobody that just exists. They always make me feel I'm not even worth being here. Like I never belonged here. I don't know what I'm suppose to do anymore. Even when I do things for them that they can't get off there butt and do it themselves. And after the whole thing they act nice and super happy and act like nothings wrong. And I'm just sad and frustrated and my mom says I have an attitude after I said I wasn't getting any dinner yet. And she mocks me by talking to my dad.

I would be looking for more work but it just frustrating when I need to either download the application or print it out. I say its frustrating because the computers I use aren't even mine their my brother's and the printer. I don't want to mess anything up and be blamed for doing something.It's always like this I can't even do a simple thing without getting everyone mad at me. I can't even talk to my dad without mom showing attitude toward me.It like I'm trapped here, even if I breathe on my own without some one getting mad. I feel really sad ad I don't understand.Is it my imagination or did I do something wrong that you see and I don't? Am I just someone that just exists? I don't know what I'm suppose to do anymore just thinking about everything depresses me. :(

Windows Vista can't find any wireless networks?

My laptop is a Windows Vista Home Premium. This has only been happening for the past three days, but my laptop can no longer discover any wireless networks.
My mom's nook has no problem finding our wireless network… her's connects automatically. But my laptop can't find any. The neighbor's networks used to show up, but now theirs don't and neither do mine.
I can connect to the internet using our ethernet cable, from the modem directly to my laptop. But I can't connect when the ethernet cable is going from the modem to the router.

For wifi, I have Realtek PCIe FE family controller. The driver is all updated, and I've even uninstalled it and re-installed it but still, my laptop can't find networks. I don't even know if that's the problem with it.
I know there are keys that you press to turn wifi discovery on and off, Fn + F2 together… But when I press them, it doesn't change anything. I tried doing it at start up, but it didn't do anything. Please help.

If you have any suggestions for other websites to ask this question on, I'd be grateful for that also. Thanks!

Unfortunately, I've pressed the wifi button countless times, and I'm not even sure if it's working properly. Probably not, because it still doesn't show any wireless networks.
We did suffer a nasty thunderstorm the other day, and we turned off the power strip (where the router is plugged in). Since then, my laptop has had a hard time attempting to see any networks.

I got it to work once, for a bit, yesterday. But that was only because I pressed the wifi keys right at my computer's start up (a suggestion from somebody else online who was going through the same stuff). And of course, I've tried that about twelve times already today haha and I'm still not getting any network discovery.
I feel like there's a default setting that may be turning off my wireless adapter automatically, like after I shut down my laptop.Do you know if there's any way I can turn my wifi on without having to press the buttons? Maybe somewhere ins

I just read an article that says they've lost so much money that they might go bankrupt and close all their stores soon :'(

Are Ebooks going to make real books non existent?

As a huge reader myself, I'm so scared that in a few years I won't be able to buy actual paper books anymore because of Ebooks. I am totally against ebooks. I would rather be holding an actual book in my hand and flipping the pages than staring at a screen. Real books have character. Though it sounds weird, I even like the smell of old books. Ebooks were the reason why My favorite store ever, Border's, closed. I can never find any book stores other than Barnes and Noble, which is an hour away. Are real books going to be Jon existent?

Am I obssessed or just weird?

I have been in prison twice and I am on parole. I do have a few documented mental diagnosis. But anyway, I have found that I seem to be obssessed with law enforcemnt or something. Sometimes I email my city police chief annonymously and ask random questions just because its a rush to have contact with an officer. I downloaded a police scanner app on my nook. I look at photos of officers in uniform online. And I watch videos on youtube that have police content in them.Is this normal? Seriously I am a little concered?!?

How to move a book from my PC to my nook?

I have a Nook 1st edition wi-fi. I have downloaded 9 books, both free and ones I had to pay for, so far using only the nook and I have had no problems with those. I bought one book on my computer, and now I can't get it onto my nook. I have ADE set up and everything, and the book that I am trying to move shows up as being on my nook when I plug it in to my computer, but when I unplug it to actually read the book, it doesn't show up. I already looked through the B&N FAQ section, and found nothing to help me. I also tried posting on their support section of the website, but I couldn't figure that out either. I could just download the book directly from my nook and have no issues, but since I already paid for it once I would like to read it without paying twice.

Where are these mice coming from!

Strange question, hoping someone can give me some ideas… I own two cats, one about two years old, a neutered male who loves to go outside, and a 1 year old spayed female who doesn't really venture out much. I don't encourage it, but the boy loves to go outside so much sometimes I let him out onto the patio while our dog goes out and he loves it. He just rubs himself all over the patio marking his territory and I don't see that as harmful.

The other night our neighbor says she saw my little one outside clawing at her porch screen. This is really odd because I don't see how she could have gotten out AND back inside without me noticing, plus she doesn't like being outside to begin with. The second time this happened, our boy got out and was sitting on the porch waiting to be let back in. He couldn't have been out more than an hour, DH says maybe he slipped out between his feet. Sigh, men.

This time there's no evidence either cat got out, but there was a dead mouse on our back patio this morning. All these times I've checked all windows, doors, nooks and crannies. From what I can see, there's no way they're getting out and back in without me noticing. Could a stray cat have become friends with them and is bringing them treats? I haven't left any food out to give a stray ideas, and I haven't physically seen any strays around, but we live in the country. I'd like to at least see this cat and know that's what it is [not necessarily catch them], and not my babies running around outside all night. Any ideas?

Where is the best place to keep a spare key?

We live in a third-floor flat with no balcony, so in the event of accidentally leaving the keys inside the flat or losing them while out, it is physically impossible to get into our flat.

My wife and I both have our own set of keys but I'm just thinking in the unlikely event that we both lose them/leave both sets inside (it's a type of lock where it locks mechanically behind you when you close the door, without having to lock it with a key), or if one of us is at home alone for a while and the other person is away, but the person at home locks themselves out by accident.

Underneath the door mat is out of the question - too easy and also we don't know all of the families in our building. We have recently moved to an area that previously was not home to either of us, so we have no relatives nearby to simply keep a spare key. We have friends whom we could ask, but are there any other ideas? Some nook or cranny somewhere around town even?

Is this a sort of disorder?

I have this problem, If you can call it that.It's like an extreme paranoia. I am always paranoid and in the sense that I must check everywhere and everything to make sure I'm "Safe". E. g: If I go into a room full of people I am searching for exits and debating with myself which people would be the most dangerous… Or if it's late at night and and I'm in my own house walking around I have a large sense that someone is watching or following me, But I somehow always muster the courage to spin around really fast to check. Of course there is nothing there. But I can proceed to the restroom and must check every nook and cranny to make sure there is no camera or sound recorder or ravage animal of sorts looking to hurt or kill me. I am always being the most so careful with whatever i do.

Also I don't do weed or any other drugs.

Nook simple touch library organization!

I just purchased a nook simple touch and so far its great.

I just was wondering why my book series are out of order and mixd up! I have everything on shelfs so i figured out that organization hint but the only options are author or title and that leaves my series still not in first through last order

For example book 2 then book 1 then book 3 eill appear.

IM happy that its at least together but they are not in order

Also how do u organize your nook library!

How do i fix this? Thanks 10 points

Why won't my Deviant art account let me log in?

I tried to log into my deviant art account not only from my laptop, but from my nook tablet, Ipod, and even my ps3 browser. But it says I have an invalid password. Here's the thing. I've changed my password for it about 9 times now, but still, nothing. The email address and everything was correct and valid, so I don't see why it is doing this. I tried their FAQ, but it has nothing on this type of problem.It's nothing to do with cookies, as I've already looked into that on here.

1. Watermelon Oreos. They were delicious. :D
2. I've never actually eaten fried Twinkies, even though everyone who has ever been to a boardwalk or carnival seems to have tried them. They sound really unhealthy and kind of gross in my opinion. Also, I've never watched any of The Hangover movies. That sort of movie just doesn't appeal to me.
3. Too hard to pick, so I'll edit this later when I decide xD
4. Yes. Even though I have a Lucario profile picture currently, my favorite Pokemon is Eevee, hands-down. :)

Can minors work at corporations like mcdonalds, walmart or barnes and nobles?

In nevada the law doesn't say in particular that kids under 16 cannot work at corporations like mcdonalds, walmart or barnes and nobles?

is it corporate policy that says they have to be 16 or 18?

or is it the part of the law that says "Determination by Labor Commissioner that certain employment dangerous or injurious to children under 16 years of age. Except as otherwise provided in NRS 609.221, the Labor Commissioner may determine whether or not any particular trade, process of manufacture or occupation, or any particular method of carrying on such trade, process of manufacture or occupation is sufficiently dangerous to the lives or limbs, or injurious to the health or morals, of minors under 16 years of age employed therein to justify their exclusion therefrom, and may prohibit their employment therein. " that rules out corporate work?

Added (1). I am referring to kids under 16.i know there are some 16, 17 year olds working at Mcdonalds, etc.

ie.in nevada, they used to give out work permits to kids 14 and 15.now they don't give out work permits anymore.but it was common knowledge that you had to be 16 to work at most places at the mall or mcdonalds.and 14 year olds had to get a job at a family or locally owned business like ma's grocery store or whatever.

Read over my story please?

"I didn't live through my story; my story lived through me"
It was dark outside; dark and desolate- one of those nights, where there is something sinister about it, yet you can't quite put your finger on what it is. The curtains were drawn over the grand window, albeit the darkness outside was somewhat haunting us, into the room. I often feel like this; mother says my imagination is just playing tricks on me. "You're young!" She'll say. "I was the same Eddie, exactly the same. Now run off to bed, before this paranoia attacks you anymore…like a monster ROAR!"
I laugh and do as she says, although I never believe her. This night however; this night was different. We could all feel something; Mother, Father, Nanny, Pops and I. Pops suggested telling horror stories- he would always lift the spirit.So that is exactly what he did; and exactly how it began.
It was the winter of 1916 and we were living a nightmare. The winds were stinging and slapping our faces, stabbing our hands like knives. We could not see out into the distance; we were lost, lost with no escape. And our hunger. Unbearable hunger had we, stomachs so empty it felt not even our soul was left inside us. But wait- what were we surrounded by? That's it; people. People lying on the ground, with their souls taken away from them; their lives were no longer ahead of them. And that was our harsh reality. Bullets being shot from left right and centre and "BOOM!" another soul was gone. You could hear the determination in the bomb's voices and they lit up and ruptured, shortly followed by a rumble of devastation.At the end of the day, we had nowhere to go aside from a trench; our hell hole. We weren't just depressed in the mind; we were living depression. Surrounded by rotten rancid rats, scurrying into every nook and cranny. And the smell was vile; the rats, the mud, the air, the entire atmosphere. Speaking of the mud, I must mention the fact we could not walk at all without sinking, filling our gaping boots, a demon living below dragging us under- and that demon was inside of us too. The worst smell of all, was the smell of dead bodies; at the time it appeared as the whole word, however now the nightmare is over, we know the facts; on the first day alone, we would have been surrounded by 20, 000 dead bodies; that's a huge number of people Eddie! The smell was revolting- a decaying scent choking the air of rotting human flesh. Death is such a cruel thing-usually it is like the wind that slowly creeps in between door cracks and silently takes its prey-however in this living nightmare it was all we ever saw. And if we weren't killed in some awful bomb attack, air raid, or gunshot, it was likely we would die of starvation- I tell you now, I am incredibly lucky to be here today. Our food was extremely basic; bread, cheese, oatmeal; you get the picture? And that is all we had to survive on all day- a day full of attacking. We did not want to attack; well, that is for sure how I was feeling, I can only assume for everybody else. Albeit, we had to; it was a never ending game of kill or be killed. Our food was somewhat appetising compared to the other side though, however- the Germans. They had only the basic of the basics from our diet, and it was not as much as we were blessed. They were fighters though; we all were. What else could I tell you about? Ah yes-we were without our families for months. And months. And months. Imagine that Eddie- I'm sure you would miss your Mummy and Daddy very much, as did I. We wrote letters, however that was our only communication- miles away from home, our minds full of nothing but torture and loneliness. Imagine that Eddie, Imagine it- ghastly! And this living nightmare- this living nightmare took away from me who I was before. I survived, but as a person inside, I didn't. I didn't live through my story; my story lived through me".

And that was that; I knew the story of my Pop's living nightmare. Never in my life have I heard such a horror, not even the worst of my dreams were so vicious. I hugged my Pops tightly, and never wanted to let go.
"Know something Pops?" I said. "You're my hero and the world's hero. I love you" He looked me in, told me I was his hero, and carried me up to bed. I will never forget this story; the story that my Pops didn't live through; the story that lived through him.
