Im looking for something like a tablet but cheaper.i was looking at the nooks and kindles but those are 2 expensive for me and i looked at the tablets online at big lots they have them for like 59.99 thats the cheapest i found them.on ebay or amazon if they are low prices they r messed up or broken.

Virus protection for Nook HD?
Are you suppose to have Anti-Virus Protection for a Nook HD? I see where Avast has a prgm geared towards a Nook to protect against spyware & malware, but, is it necessary? I don't think a Nook even has an OS like a desk top computer. If anyone knows… I'd appreciate your input. Peace.

My eye's get temporarily blurry reading my Nook, can this become permanent?
I have a Nook HD and no matter the settings after about 5-10 minutes of reading I realize my eyes are blurry. When I look up from the Nook everything is blurry. This lasts for about 20 minutes then my eyes readjust and everything is fine… til I try reading the Nook again.
Neither my computer or phone cause this, no matter how long I look at those.It's the same while trying to watch a movie on it as well.
Has anyone else had this problem, and does anyone know if this could cause permanent damage?

Kindle vs nook / should i get the kindle or nook?
Im not interested in the internet.just reading.i would like to know if the kindle or the nook is better for reading.which one responds the best and has the best color? if i should get the kindle which kind? if i should get the nook which kind? i want something thats all touchscreen i dont want an added keyboard on the outside.i just want to save paper and gas by simply buying books on a tablet.i cant decide which one.i want to easily travel with it.money is an issue too.what do the books cost? are they cheaper if you have the kindle or nook? which tablet is easier to understand? please list pros and cons of each.

Will Barnes and Noble hire me for a part time summer job? Or any other places like that?
I am 14 and i wanted to get a summer job to help raise some money. I'd like to have a 'calm' job with music that I like. I don't want a frantic job that rides my back all day and a job at a bookstore doesn't seem like they'd do anything like that. Does anybody know of any job at a bookstore or something that will hire a 14 year old?

How to get my NookBook from my iPhone to my Nook?
I installed the Nook app on my iPhone and used my existing Barnes and Noble ID to purchase a book. When I go on the Barnes and Noble website, it shows the book in my library, and I can read it on my phone, but when I use my Nook, the book does not appear in my library.Is this because I have not connected to a Wifi? Once I connect to a Wifi, will the book appear on my Nook?

Is this prologue too edgy? Would it keep you reading on?
I just started writing a YA novel, and I want the character to be edgy like Holden Caulfield from Catcher in the Rye, but I don't want it to be over done untill the point my main comes off like a you know what. This is the first draft of my prologue, I just started it one hour ago.
Timmy Carter and the Erl King
Prologue
I'm just your average fifteen year old teenager. I go to a crappy public high school, get my lunch money taken by Billy Moss everyday, make an *** out of myself when I talk to the girl I love, Stacey Harrel, and I make Cs, Bs, and a few As in between. Did I mentioned I have two moms? Yep that's right Karen and Michelle Carter. You're probably asking yourself what are they lesbians or something? Well duh! And that's not the worst part. They're white, and I'm… well I don't know what I am. Karen and Michelle say that my father was part white, part black, and part Native American; while my real mother was one hundred percent black which makes Mexican, I guess?
You're probably ROFL your butt off right now about my lesbian parents with their ethnic son, and my classmates were too back in middle school. They used to call me "Timmy Two Moms"; they used to ask which one was the daddy, which one played the mommy, that really tore me up on the inside. I never knew my father. Karen and Michelle adopted me when I was just a baby. Oddly enough the taunting about my gay parents stopped when I began high school, I thought it would get worst, and what was even more odder was the boys who used to bully me about my two mothers suddenly stopped once they reached a certain age, the age where we boys start becoming men, growing hair under every nook and cranny, our voices morphing with every sentence. Now they were suddenly spending most of their time riding their bikes in the street in front of my house, waiting for my parents to get off work so they can drool and cat call. They think my two moms are pretty cool now I guess. I know, creepy right?

How to start reading again?
Alright.
Ever since I was about 7 years old I have been an intensely dedicated reader. I would spend hours a day just reading for the heck of it, finishing a book every day or two. If it ever happened that I didn't read anything for more than a day I would mentally punish myself. There wasn't a weekend where I didn't go to Barnes & Noble or the library. Well..now my situation is a bit different. I honestly barely read at all. Except for fan-fiction… I have about 5 or 6 book's that are just laying in my room… untouched. The only reading I've really done was about a month and a half ago. I have been re-reading the Harry Potter series… but that's all really. I'm seriously worried. I want to remain the huge reader I've always been. I think technology and my One Direction obsession has contributed to me stop reading but… Any tips on how I can start reading a lot again? Trying to get a job at barnes and noble?
Im going to take in my application tomorrow. The lady told my mother they have two jobs available one is like putting books back on the shelves(my mother wasn't good at explaining it) and the other is in the cafe. Ive had 1 job before working at a day camp and because its the summer im always available to work. She said to bring in my resume tomorrow. Its not really an interview but how can i improve my chances of getting a job.

Where can I get a cheap charger for my NOOK HD?
My charger is broken, but I can't really afford to buy a 25 dollar charger from the online store.Is there anyway to get one cheaper? Does Walmart carry the replacements for it? Thank you ~

What is it that's so alluring about New York City? So dark, so mysterious?
Every time I've been to this city I felt it, I just can't explain it. There's something so amazing about it. I went a few months ago and I was the happiest I have ever been [i'm 20]. I was staying in a $29 hostel in Queens sleeping in bunk beds with people from all over the world and eating the cheapest food in the city and was never happier. Exploring all the nooks and corners of the city on the subway. Every borough.it's essence it's life it's soul it's spirit. Talking to the New Yorkers, being amongst them… I spent less than $90 but was never happier. You never know who you will see on the street.At night it truly comes alive. The populations shift and there are vacant streets in the city of millions… What is it that's so dangerous yet so gravitating at the same time… How you can feel so alone and isolated yet complete at the same time… I see it in the people.their lives are hard… Even tragic… But they push through it and live for every second of it. What is it about this city… Because I just can't get enough of it

How can I download videos (for example, from youtube) into my NOOK? I know how to download pictures, but when I try to do the same with videos, it doesn't work.

I can't read my books on my nook color?
I used to be able to. Ever since I bought a new book yesterday night, whenever I tap one of the books to read, it just turns to a black screen and when I press the little "n" I just tap home. What happened???

What to do when your Nook freezes/won't charge?
I have a first-addition Nook (Barnes and Noble). I was reading it and it said there was a critical battery alert. I plugged it in and it started charging, but about 15 minutes later I realized the light wasn't on and it still said there was a critical battery alert. I tried plugging it in different outlets and none of them worked. I held down the power button for about 20 seconds to send the reboot signal. I tried taking the battery out. When i put it back in, it still said there still was a critical battery alert. I've looked online everywhere but couldn't find anything to help on the first-addition Nook. If you have any tip or ideas or anything, I would really like to know! Thanks!

Should i root my nook tablet 8 gb?
Ok so idk if i should or how to root a nook tablet.also i have some questions. If i root my nook will i loose the books and apps i bought? And if it does can i just get the B&N app and get it all back? Will it change the look of my nook? Like the layout of it and the notification bar on the bottom left ( i kind of like how it reminds me of stuff). And will i loose my music i downloaded?
Im just nervous about rooting because i dont know to much about it and i dont wanna regret doing it. Yet also im really anoyed about the lack of apps and the over priceing.Im 14 so keep in mind im not a really techy person so can u dumb it down for me? Or just use simple wordls i dont know the names of versions and stuff haha. Also me being 14 theres always those new cool apps my friends have and i want but nook has NONE of them so im kinda left out… :(

You're by the coooler section and you see the egg rolls. Then… there they are. Those whopping footlong burritos! Beef and bean, beef and cheese, and spicey beef and bean. Man, nook those burritos and cover em in some sweet chilli sauce and you have a filling meal with great taste. Price? 7 bucks for the bottle of sweet chilli sauce and 1 dollar apiece for the burritos. Awesome!

Pregnant ghost shrimp i need the do's and dont's!
I have discovered thatvone of my ghost shrimp is carrying eggs.but i have no idea what i should be doing and weirdly the internet dosent seem to be helping much! So…
I have moved her to a breeding net box with a large moss ball and some super fine wavey fern to hide in.is this ok?
Will she be ok on her own?
do i need a male shrimp in with her or is his buisness done?
When will the eggs hatch?
Do i remove mum from the net once they have hatched?
Will they survive in the net?
when can i release them in to the tank?
ANY advice from previous research/experiance is welcome.i would love to have some baby shrimp!
i know what i need to he feeding them (hence the lump of marimo moss from my tank and the fern) i also have super fine algae wafers crushed
The tank she is in is a 30 gallon 4ft long well planted tank with loads of nautural oak in it with losdsnof nooks and crannies to hide plus some rocks with small caves etc
i have 8 Odessa barbs (five banded), 4 danios in there last legs (nearly 7 years old!) 6 ghost shrimp (including the pregnant one) and 2 baby cherry shrimp.and 2 apple snails.
Lets hope you guys can help!

I recently left my job at a cell phone store over an argument over ethical principles. She called me a misogynist and won't talk to me?
We were at Barnes N Noble buying her(age 18, girlfriend of 2 years) a book to read over break. I have a Kindle so I didn't need a book. I went over to the magazine section. I saw the swimsuit edition and I shouldn't have been looking in the first place; I really was reading the article. She saw me and assumed I was looking at pictures, got really mad and called me a pig. I understand she had every right to be mad. I tried to explain but she wouldn't listen. I was raised by my mom and sister who refused any misogyny. How do I get her to believe me? my mom said to apologize but my sister said she's overreacting.

Nook color vs kindle white-paper?
Im wanting to purchase either a nook color or a kindle white-paper.i only care to use these as readers, no tv or music.my questions are can i purchase books from amazon with the nook and and the kindle with barnes and noble, also can i download my purchased books from my laptop to the e-reader? ( say i bought the books on my laptop can i then sync them, to the reader). and i would like to know which one seems to be better to buy..thanks

Can I wear a filter/oxygen mask while sleeping?
I don't have sleep apnea but I would like:
More restful sleep
Breathe filtered and clean air since I live with an indoor smoker and dust/pollen filled house.
I see dozens of masks online and I have no idea which is right for me. All I know is that my ionic breeze machine does not do enough to filter the air, and I wake up with a stuffy nose and sore throat from my mom's smoke. (There's no convincing her not to smoke nor smoke outside) It also doesn't matter if my door is completely shut because there's enough nooks and crannies for cigarette smell/smoke to get through.
I heard it can be.uncomfortable but I'm willing to try it to feel better.

Is it bad to leave my Nook Tablet plugged in, charging, all the time?
Hi.My Nook is my bedtime sleep aid, so to speak, but because I leave it on all night, the battery obviously wanes.Is it harmful to leave it charging alk the time, even on shut down, so it won't freeze up like it does? Or should I just leave it off during the day, then plug it in at night when I get drowsy? Please comment!

Are there any good Paranormal Romances out there?
I've read so many books and I'm always hitting up Barnes and Noble for something new. Well, I haven't been able to find anything new that sounds interesting. I've read Nevermore, The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer, Hush Hush, Fallen, The Raven Boys, etc. Nothing new has caught my eye.

2013 AP World History Exam?
I'm going to take the AP World History Exam in May this year and I'm extremely nervous about it. I'm actually not prepared for it. Our teacher makes us to read all of the chapters. I read all the chapters that my teacher has assigned to us and took annotations; however, I don't understand what the chapters talks about. I felt super embarrassed about it and that I spent about twice the amount of hours to do it than my peers.
I'm planning to purchase an AP World History Exam prep book at Barnes & Nobles to help me to score better and prepare for the exam. I don't know which brand or which book is good. Which one would you recommend? I really need to pass the the exam and obtain College credit.

Spanish 1 and Algebra 1 honors help?
I'm in 8th grade and currently take algebra 1 honors and Spanish 1. I'm mostly getting Spanish but I want to really get it before next year. And I've already submitted high school classes for next year. I'm retaking algebra 1 honors because I don't believe I understand it enough.
I want books on both Spanish 1 and Algebra 1 I can use as study guides. Really that I can teach myself. Preferably available and Barnes and noble. Not an ebook. Not a textbook.

American travelling to Cuba or North Korea?
Hi. I am a 24-year old woman from Washington DC and I'm VERY adventurous. I have been ever since I was a kid, I would wander the neighborhood and find out all the nooks and crannies of our town. Well, I know this might sound crazy, but I want to travel to Cuba or North Korea. The two countries that everyone says you can't go to, I want to go there.My question is: which one would be better to go to? Which one would be safer? Which one would I be less discriminated for/better be able to hide being American? I don't care much about these, I am going to one of them one way or another. I heard Cuba is beautiful, being in the Caribbean, but I also heard North Korea is a very interesting place, it's just they strictly limit tourism in the country.So my question is, which one should I visit? And do either of them have an American embassy/a protecting power?

I just can not remember the name of a book!
Hi all,
There was this book that I read a while back.It was one of those free eBooks from Barnes and Noble. The basic story line is that there is this girl who is a prostitute. She meets a cop and they fall in love. Her pimp wants to keep her for himself, but it does't work well. She manages to get out and goes to the hometown of the cop that she fell in love with, who is in the army at the moment. She goes there because she is pregnant, with his child. She thinks that he is dead as well. Anyway, he comes home, she faints, they have a fight because he thinks the child is that of her pimp. She tells him it's his. They eventually get married and start a home for kids coming out of foster care. Because that's why she became a prostitute.
All I can remember is that I think it was called Jesse. The cover is a picture of a girl's waist down in a denim mini-skirt with cowboy boots resting on a pick-up engine. There's a blue background.
I would really appreciate any help that can be given.
