Books on Amazon and Barnes & Noble?

Looking for books on Amazon and Barnes & Noble, I notice that some normal books that you can buy for $25 or so also have listings for extremely ridiculous prices, like $125. What the heck is up with that?

For summer reading I read the Barnes and nobles abridged version of the count of monte Cristo and I need to find 2 metaphors and 2 allusions. There needs to be quotes from the book. Please help!

Can you recommend me some books that are actual literature?

I'm 17. In case anyone doubts my reading ability, my IQ rates as genius. I won't have trouble.

As entertaining as YA books are, they're usually ****. I want to read GOOD writing but I also want some undiscovered gems. There's no use recommending something I already heard of, right? So, could anyone please name a well-written book I will find in the literature section at Barnes & Noble? I've browsed it before, but not many of them caught my eye. I think I'm too used to teen novels, so please help? Thanks.

Manga on Kindle Fire HDX vs Nook HD+?

I'm considering buying an e-reader of sorts so I can more easily buy manga to read (Yes I know there are plenty of free sites to read them, but I want to support my favorite authors). The selection on the nook appears to be quite decent.
So my question is:
Does the kindle have an equally good selection of manga? Or even access to the same store as the nook?

Nook Crashes internet?

Alright so my brother connects his Nook (Not sure what kind it is, i'm not well educated on Barnes & Noble Products) but it can connect to internet and whenever he gets on my average ping on a server goes from 40 to 500-600 and stays roughly at 550 permanently. Why does this happen? And how can i fix it? Its also important to note i have indeitified this as the cause because when i turn it off it goes back to normal.

I live in NY and not only the B&N got rid of the chairs but now we can't even sit on the ground. I wanted to know how it's like in other states

Barnes and Noble job help? - 1

I applied to Barnes and Noble in my area that is hiring. This would be my very first job and my third interview. I'm worried that not having any previous experience would decrease my chances. I spoke to a manager today and she said they typically hire people with restaurant experience because of the cafe. I called around to a few other locations in my area and all the employees and managers said it didn't really matter if you're applying for a bookseller position. Does anyone know if that matters? Also, I didn't know at first that Barnes and Noble had a printable application and so I filled one out online a few weeks ago. I didn't hear anything back as they weren't hiring at the time. When I find out I could fill one out and drop it off in store, I decided that would make a better impression and am going to do so tomorrow. Does filling it out online decrease the chances of an interview vs. Dropping it off to a manager? I really want this job and I want to make sure I make a good first impression. Any constructive criticism is appreciated!

How to pay with barnes and noble gift cards that you no longer have?

So usually I pay for books on my nook, not at the actual store. I enter the card number into my nook and then throw away the gift cards. I now have over $100 worth of gift cards accumulated on my account.

so now i want to use those gift cards to buy something online, to be shipped to my house. I see on my account information that the gift cards are recognized, but i no longer have the numbers/codes to them.

how do i use these gift cards to buy the books online without using the credit card listed at all?

Brown widow infestation?!

So we have a beautiful back yard and garden but lately there have been a lot brown widows in the garden they have been in the nooks and crannies of everything! Our patio chairs out little green house and even under the brim of our garden pots and there huge! I went out yesterday and killed a great deal but I'm nervous to spray ortho home defense around the garden because I'm afraid it will kill our plants! What can I do to stop this madness?! And is the ortho home defense safe to spray in the garden? Please help!

If I buy a magazine to download to my Nook I understand it will be in black and white on my Glowlight, but does the ePub file contain colour information? For example if I was to transfer it at a later to a Nook Tablet or other Colour e-reader or tablet would it then be in colour?

How the heck do you get a retail job without prior experience?

I'm basically trying to find a job while I think about what I really want to major in. The problem is that I've never had a job before because I was busy with college.
For example, I was applying to Barnes and Nobles (not managers or high level positions) and to my surprise, they require prior work experience in order to move forward in the application/requirement. It's the same with other retail jobs, I mean, in all sincerity to retail workers, how hard can the job be to learn?

Digital vs hard copies… Albums, books, movies?

So recently I had my laptop open, listening to my Spotify radio while I was reading on my Nook. It occurred to me that everything has become digital now and it gave me a really weird feeling. All the music I listen to is digital. I have no hard copies of my favorite albums on CDs or whatever. All my favorite books are digital on my Nook, I have no books with real pages… And movies? I just buy them for five bucks on Comcast On demand or watch a movie on my Netflix account. Now is this convenient? Of course it is. It's easy. Always accessible. But I really want all my favorite things in real life, where I can hold. Like DVDs and CDs and books. But will I be wasting my money? Will these things soon become a thing of the past? Is it worth investing in a DVD collection?

Vagina itching mainly in inner lips what is wrong?

Last Wednesday i was shaving my vagina (getting all the nooks and crannies) and all of a sudden as soon as i got out of the shower it started to itch inside my inner lips and around that area. I'm pretty positive i dont have a yeast infection because i have none of the symptoms and I dont have an STD because I have never done anything sexual or let anyone touch me down there. Please help is there any ways that i could soothe the itch or make it go away its so irritating I am a 15 year old.

Are all those ghastly videos of meat industry only the tip of the iceberg?

given the fact that no one wants to show what happens inside slaughterhouses. No one is allowed to go and freely record videos of every nook and corner of slaughterhouses. There is tight security at the gate and anyone entering there is frisked thoroughly before he can enter. Thats why all those videos are undercover videos where the cameraman really risked his life to capture the reality of slaughter.

Undercover videos are taken secretly and quickly to avoid being caught so they are not able to film everything. Also very few people take such risks. The government also does not want to make these things public.

So essentially there is everyone who wants to prevent activities in slaughterhouses from coming to light. Amidst these circumstances how can you think that these things are rare So do you think the horrors of meat industry which we see on youtube is just the the tip of the iceberg and the actual reality is much more horrific.

How to switch from fanfiction to original fiction?
Added (1). I wrote fanfiction for a large portion of my life (and I took the writing seriously), but recently I lost interest in my fandom and having nothing to write about. I know if I actually want to make writing a career, I have to write original fiction, but I can never get myself to care about my characters enough. (If anyone's read Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, I'm pretty much exactly like Cather). Has anyone else transitioned before? Any tips?
Added (2). Athena: Please don't say that. Fanfiction is much closer to fictional work than essays (I don't even know why in the world you would suggest a fanfiction writer convert to essays - fanfiction is about prose and dialogue too, even if we borrow characters and worlds.)

It's not a hint that I'm not ready to be a writer yet. I'm already a writer - I write a LOT. (Fanfiction IS writing, believe it or not.) I don't have a problem with my skills/talents - it's only developing original characters.
