Is something wrong with my BRAND NEW Nook HD+?

I literally just bought a Nook HD+ like an hour ago… Got home and it said it needs to charge before I can use it. I am all good with that, but when I plugged it in, it lit up but just a white bar is showing across the screen… I am hoping that it is just because I literally opened it up and started charging it and it hasn't got enough battery to show the real display but I am worried that I am wrong… Someone please direct me in the right direction. :(
Added (1). It has to be on to charge, so it is turned on.It just doesn't have any display except the white lines.

How to get a job at Barnes & Noble? What are my chances of getting one there?

I'm 19 and going to be a sophomore at my university this fall. I'm in the "Honors College" at my university, and I'm majoring in History in English.My GPA is currently 3.34 (but I plan to raise it this next semester).

I really love Barnes & Noble, and would love to work there in the fall. I worked a retail job briefly last year (fall 2012), but it was Victoria's Secret seasonal, and they gave me no hours so I quit. I worked at a restaurant as a host after that. How can I get a job at Barnes & Noble? What are my chances?

What is the SIU in an insurance company?

Last December I discovered that my Daughter and her boyfriend had been stealing from me. I don't know the time frame and I found out because they were both arrested on felony drug charges.My daughter was jailed and later went to a private rehab. She admitted that she HAD taken several pieces of my jewelry but did NOT know that her boyfriend had been helping himself to things that my mother had left me. I was devastated when I found out that my mothers and fathers things had been stolen. I did contact the man and asked for ALL my items returned but didn't get a response. I went to my local police station and filed a police report. I didn't have receipts or vary many things to prove that the items had existed but despite that I did file a report. When I was talking with the officer who took my statement she advised me to contact my insurance company and file a claim. I had a few things that I had hoped that would help track some of the items. Four of the items stolen were an Ipad, a netbook, a nook, and an ipod mini that was given to be the previous Christmas. I filed the claim with my insurance company in January and I have gone through hoops for them! I have had to try and find pictures of my mothers items, I had only pictures left as proof of my items, (engagement ring, etc… ) I did have the boxes of the computer and the ipad.and I took those to the police and to the insurance adjuster. Then in March I was contacted by a lady from a outside company who was investigating the theft. I allowed her to come to my home and to ask questions, take pictures, and gave her some private information. I have not heard anything from the local police. But today I finally got a letter from my insurance company with a "status" of my claim. They said that my claim and the report from the women who came to my home has been turned over to the SIU of the insurance company. WHAT THE HELL IS THAT? The woman who came to my home DID ask me about several valuables that had NOT been stolen.My response is that they just hadn't gotten to those items and that they mainly took things that I really NEVER used or things that were tucked away. I really have NO idea WHY they took some things and NOT others? I have wondered that myself. Anyway, when I got the letter today I decided to look up some of the insurance terms and now I am wondering if this company is INVESTIGATING ME? I was asked my the woman who came to my home if I had "money problems" I really didn't know how to answer! YES! But I don't think that is abnormal, I am guessing that most people have some money problems these days. I have also been going through a ugly divorce and that is the culprit of some of my issues! In my past I have also had some legal issues regarding theft… But that has been a long time ago and has NO bearing on what happened to me. Should I be worried? Some of the internet sites suggested I should hire a lawyer? WHAT? WHY? I have NEVER tried to defraud any insurance company and I am certainly NOT trying that now!!! I feel like instead of helping me they are making me feel like I am the DRUG addict that stole! Should I be worried?

What is the name of this Manga? - 1

I saw an interesting vampire manga novel on one of the racks at Barnes and Noble, but i've forgotten the name! All I know is:

There is a teenage vampire girl as one of the protagonists, and I think she was in some way related to a male detective and/or monster hunter. (Maybe living with him?)

Should I use Lulu or Amazon to publish my eBook?

Both offer the option to download the book on the iPad, but I do have to choose between using only the Kindle or the Nook. Amazon states that you cannot publish an eBook through them that has already been published.

Where to get SAO light novels?

I didn't read the manga nor the light novels for Sword Art Online but I watched the anime(watched all 25 episodes and totally loved it btw!!<3) and I wanna read the novels before the second season comes out. Usually I go to Barnes and Noble to get my mangas but they don't have every specific manga there sooo I was wondering!:

1.) What's the difference between the light novels and the manga of SAO?
2.) Anyone know any stores where I can get the light novels for SAO?
3.) Is there a specific order I have to read series in to read the light novels?
4.) Anyone know the when exactly in June that they will air the second season? Well for the US to watch that is.

School sucks.how do i deal?

Ok so. There's this girl at school who has tantrums in class. Legit. She will get up. Shake her fists. Scream. Try to hit people. I ran out of the room once and the teachers had to take all of my classmates with me and we sat in a room for an hour. She's about 5'11 160 pounds and scary. Also there's these chubby video game kids who randomly start dancing.please don't judge me but I'm kinda against gay and lesbian people. And there's like 15 at my school. Uch everyones judt awful. Please don't judge or say rude things.

Owning A Small Bookstore?

I'm thinking about owning a small, mostly second-hand, bookstore in NY (upstate, like Millbrook or Rhinebeck).My dream is pretty much to be surrounded by books lol. I am also working on a novel.It's just something I can't get enough of. I'm 20 years old, newly married, my college is practically paid for, and I was just wondering… is this possible? Even though the 'Kindle' and the 'Nook' are changing they way people read, I still believe that many people want substantial books. Does anyone have any tips on starting a business? Thanks guys.

Where can i find advice for restoring a 1972 Buick Skylark?

Long story short, i have a 1972 Buick skylark and it needs to be restored to its former glory.It needs some minor to average body work on it.you know, rust, dents and a few holes. Interior is decent.carpet is old and the seats have rips in them.there is rust on the metal dash, under carpets and in about every nook and cranny on that car; under the trim, in the trunk, on the hood. Amazingly however there is minimal rust on the undercarriage.i do however have a problem with a few mechanical aspects.the radiator has a leak (or a hose), the car veers to the right when you brake hard and it leans to the right (which could be the tires or springs).so im looking for advice, tips, or places to order/find cheap parts.

Will Borders (bookstore) ever re-open!

I loved that store, they had a much bigger selection of books than Barnes and nobles and I don't know why but it was my favorite store… is there a possibility it will come back? I miss it :(

I have a membership card at Books-A-Million but they don't always have the books I'm looking for (most of the time, but not always). I've shopped a B&N a couple of times but don't have a membership there.

Trying to learn C++ any suggestions?

I plan to learn C++ soon. I have learned that it requires a IUD(I think that's the abbreviation) which compiles you writing, can fix errors, etc. I plan to use C++ to write codes for programs, applications (for computers, tablets, and mobile devices), and a few games. I don't have any experience with C++ and want to know where to start. I know there are free IUD programs and ones that can cost over $1000. I would prefer a free one but after some time would be willing to upgrade to one that costs up to $150. I have experience with programing including making games in MIT's scratch, and on lego mind-storms( not those bricks, actual code).So I just want suggestions on what to do, although I was planning to buy C++ for beginners for dummies at Barnes and noble.

Why do i get so upset about my messy house?

Im almost turning 16, and i live with my dad. Ive lived in the house for over 5 years and my dad is so so messy and well, he stinks. I hate it so much! I try and clean the house as much as i can (like the bathroom, my bedroom) properly, getting into the nooks and crannies with bleach and allsorts, i had to beg my dad to get a new carpet because it was unbelievably stained (we have a dog and a cat), We have had a recent infestation of fleas, i bath my dog myself every week and ive bought some flea spray and things for both my animals to help, as well as changing my bedsheets and vacuuming, BUT THE FLEAS ARE STILL THERE. I cant even sleep on my bed at night, i have to sleep on the floor, i can feel them on me and it disgusts me so much i start crying, I just want my dad to help me with the cleaning, i hate my house so much, I haven't even invited my boyfriend of one and a half years round because i am embarrassed and i just make up silly excuses. I just want a new house where i can start fresh or something or someone to help, it really depresses me, and i just start crying thinking about it. What can i do? :(

I'm 4 months pregnant and so bored its a beautiful summer night on Saturday and I'm alone.Bf left me last week and is out enjoying the summer and I've tried everything to stay busy and not be depressed.
