I can't believe in god anymore?

I'm 17 since the 20th of June and I spent my birthday looking for a friend who had gone missing the night before, we were out from 5 o clock till half 2 in the morning and back in for 7 the next morning and just out since 6…
We found him face first in a stream at the bottom of a 30 foot drop onto sharp jagged stones.
I prayed and prayed and prayed that he would just be asleep on a bench somewhere not lying dead, we all prayed only to find him by taking a kayak down a stream and looking in very nook and cranny.
How can I believe in someone/something that takes away the people i love?
The guy was 19 first year of uni and honestly the single nicest guy you could meet, I know they say that about a lot if not all the deceased but I would have said this had he still been alive.
I wouldn't normally be the most religious person but this has just destroyed any shards that there really is a god…

Am I crazy, or a prophet? My prediction about the economy in 10 years from now?

(1) I SAY THIS: In ten years from now, the economy of the US, Canada & Europe will collapse as 50% of workers become persistently unemployed with no hope of find a means of earning a living.

(2) I SAY that this will happen because machines will by that time have gotten so smart and so dexterous that 50% of all jobs can be done better and more cheaply by machines than by humans.

(3) Just think: in 1991 Apple introduced the Macintosh PowerBook (a laptop computer). IN 2007 Apple introduced the iPhone, which was essentially the Macintosh PowerBook in a version that world fit into your shirt pocket. Moore's Law says that power of computers is increasing exponentially, as the cost and size go in the opposite direction. Thus, it should take about ten more years for machines to make 50% of the working public permanently unemployed. In pre-computer days, the Luddite Fallacy held true. But the Luddite Fallacy held true only when all machines needed humans to control or operate them, and when machines could not approach the dexterity of humans.

(4) What happens after the collapse in 10 years? That I can't see. It will be one of these:

--The Haves will seal themselves off from the Have Nots with walls, militias, the National Guard, Homeland Security, personal weapons, etc., The Have Nots will in general perish due to lack of food and medical care, though some will find ways to survival in the nooks and crevices of the wild lands.

--Socialism.

Making marker tattoos last a little longer?

I am cosplaying a character that has tattoos and I need to find a way to make them last 3 or 4 days (if they last longer, whoop-dee-fucking-doo, I work at Barnes and Noble.) I have alcohol based markers and non-alcohol based markers that I can use, so any tips?

I'm not getting real tattoos or even henna because the tattoos for this character are kinda freaky and even though my work might not care, I cant exactly avoid family members for 3 months while henna fades and i dont want huge eyes permanently tattooed to my forehead.

How much are quality HD TVs to buy new going for and where is the best place to buy them?

I'm moving to a new condo and have to buy one large HD TV for my living room, a second decent sized HD TV for my daughter's room and possibly a small HD TV for the kitchen/breakfast nook area.

My first question as I have not bought a new TV in close to 10 years, is how much are good quality HD TVs going for? I don't need the greatest TV on the market, but don't want a piece of junk?

Secondly, where are good places to buy HD TVs? I know of Best Buy of course, but somehow I feel they wouldn't have the best prices.

Thank you in advance.

Why would anyone buy a dedicated E-Reader?

I bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 at Walmart for $130 a few weeks ago. Among the apps I've installed are nook and kindle's mobile app.

Today I was in Barnes and Noble (home of the nook) and they had a display of their HD tablet (looked to be about a 10 inch vs. The Tab 3's 7 inch) for $179. It appeared to be a standard tablet where a nook app would be unnecessary because that's one of the tablet's functions. Interestingly enough (and I don't know if this was done by the store or by a customer) but one of the apps on the display model was the kindle app.

They also had a dedicated e-reader, for $120. No apps, no web access, no color. Just an e-reader with e-ink, that stores books and gives you access to the nook store.

I showed my tablet to a clerk and asked what would be the benefit of "upgrading" the nook tablet or adding a nook e-reader to my devices.

This was his answer:

Both the tablet ($179), and the e-reader ($120) allow you to read in store free. (But if you're in the store, you can just grab a hard copy of the book and start reading away for free).

Also the e-reader with e-ink allows you to read in direct sunlight.

Is it really worth shelling out $120 bucks ($10 less than a Galaxy 3 Tab, and about double of cheaper tablets out there) just to be able to read outdoors with your tablet?

It's like my mom. Since Christmas she's bought a smart phone, an MP3 player and a digital camera. But her smart phone can handle the jobs of all three--and more.

Shakespeare at Barnes & Nobles?

Sigh. Here we go; prepare to judge me. I have social anxiety disorder and am not able to ask the employees where to find the Shakespeare works. So I'd appreciate if someone could tell me where the Shakespeare works (preferably abridged, but unabridged works too.) are in the store. I've already checked the Fiction & Literature, but it's not there. NOTICE: I constantly have people telling me "JUST go up and ASK!" so please keep your comments like such to yourself, I'm taking baby steps through therapy, thanks for your concern.

When do children normally stop playing with toys?

My daughter is 7 1/2, and I've noticed recently that she doesn't play with toys anymore. She'll play with marbles every now and then but that's about it. She got her grandpa's CD player and system after he passed away and ever since, all she wants to do is play music on it. It sounds like a teenager lives in there. She'll just sit in her room, play music and play on her Nook. I hound her to clean her room because she lives like a teenager- clothes everywhere, food wrappers, shoes everywhere, but her toys stay in the same spots. She likes the park but she likes to play with the dog in the grass and just run. She refuses to play on the playground. Her last teacher said she's a little adult in a child's body because she just hangs out. She says things like "I want to be alone in my room with my music". Isn't that something a teenager would say? And her older sister from my ex husband's previous relationship lives with us, so I'm not sure if that's where all of this is coming from. I feel like she's growing up way too fast but this technically IS my first child and I'm curious to see if other kids outgrow playing this early.

How to safely bypass dryer buzzer in WHIRLPOOL GAS DRYER Model # LGR7646E?

Currently have dryer apart for repair. Fixed problem and am cleaning all those nooks and crannies where gunk builds up, and figured since I've got it apart, I sure would like to disconnect that horrible buzzer. According to the wiring diagram, unit can run with or without buzzer hooked up, so need to know how to do so safely.
Thank you!

How am I the one who is unreasonable?

My mom treats me like a 13 year old even though I turned 18 few weeks ago. I can't legally get a job, so moving out isn't an option (long and complicated story). I'm stuck with her for one more year. She won't listen to anyone and my relatives live far away, so I can't talk to them.

Anyways, I was out with my friends. At Barnes & Noble, I bought two books that were close to $40 but got almost half off. When I got home, my mom got so mad for "wasting money on something that won't help me with education" and took my card away.

She said things like "Do you know how much we need money right now?" etc, etc. Funny thing is, she expects me to understand everything when she doesn't explain anything at all. She kept ranting, so I replied "Maybe you should fucking start explaining **** to me if you want me to understand and act my age!"

According to her, I can't be a tomboy and should "act like a proper girl" even though she's fine with my brother being extremely feminine. Can't even play sports and video games just because of my gender. I can't even voice my opinions. Can't even choose what I want to wear (not something like Abercrombie). I can't watch anime, saying how it's waste of time and not educational. Funny how I used anime as one of the examples for SAT essay, yet I got a 10 on it.

I pointed all these things out too, and she denies all of it. I would love to cut her off when I'm in college, but I wouldn't be able to pay the tuition and maintain my status. Help?

I have an assignment that needs to get done, but I don't have the necessary materials?!

I ordered a book from Barnes and Noble because they didn't have it in stock. It's due in less than 10 weeks and I have tons of other stuff to do. I can't finish the assignments until I get the book I need. They said they would call me when they got the book, but they haven't called yet and we've already paid for the book. How long does it usually take for them to get the books in? I need at least 5 weeks to get the assignments done. Any less will NOT do.

Store that sells anime related things?

I live in Tucson Arizona. My friend's birthday is coming up and I would like to get her anime related items. However, I only know of one store that sells anime type stuff on 4th ave. But, the most items are more girly and not based of off actual anime. So, are there other stores that sell anime items (e.g. I know Barnes and noble sells manga but I am looking more for items rather manga) also, I know there are sites that sell what I am looking for but her birthday is in about a week and I don't want to risk it.

Which e reader to buy?

Hello all. I'm looking to buy an e reader primarily because I need to access books that I otherwise cannot. And I also think that the email version of most books is cheaper.
However, I realised that, kindle paper white (which I almost decided to buy) doesn't have a pdf reader and I'm in a fix.
Can someone enlighten me please, not just on this aspect, but all the pros and cons, so that I can make a smart and informed purchase.
Thanks in advance:)

Am I nerdy and uninteresting?

My parents are constantly asking if I hang out with the "nerds" or "geeks" at my school. They use to be kind of careful about it, but even now my mom plain out asks me if I'm a loser. I really don't think so. My school is divided into "sections", if you say, and all of the people in my classes maintain A averages, so there's no way I could avoid hanging out with smart kids. Sure, our interests are different then the other kids a little bit, but nerdy isn't really the way to describe us is my opinion. Yet again maybe I'm wrong. Mind trying to see if I'm "boring", "nerdy", or "uninteresting"?
Basic traits of me to get a better understanding:

- I don't really like to watch movies that much, but I'm a big fan of TV shows; mainly MTV stuff and AHS
-My music taste is "punk"; Of Mice & Men, Pierce The Veil, All Time Low
-I really enjoy books and magazines; a day at Barnes & Noble is a day well spent.
-I like social media like tumblr and instagram
-Coffee is a major part of my morning
-I dislike playing sports, but I could watch NFL all day long
-I shop at normalish mall places like Forever 21 and Hot Topic
-Hobbies include music listening, poem / book writing, photography, guitar playing, and singing.
Added (1). I do get all A's which I guess could qualify me as "nerdy", but my parents force me to get 4.0 GPA's, so I don't understand why they ask me "Are you a nerd?" if they're the ones basically making me to get those high marks.

Detail washing my car?

Im a senior in highschool and im really into cars, but im also broke. So i bought this old 1999 mazda protege from my grandparents for $1500. It runs fine i guess, (stereo doesnt work but ill fix it) but my grandparents live in the woods. And needless to say the car is dirty. But its more than just "dirty". There are leaves and twigs that pop out of nowhere. Ive washed the car, vaccumed, and shampooed the carpets. But dirt grime and stuff still pop up. And the gearshift has all this stickey stuff on it, and the cupholders are sticky. Ive wiped it down with lysol wipes and stuff, but i want it to be perfectly clean as if i just bought it. Any ideas?

Do Nook/Kindle/iPad make it easier to read than on a computer monitor?

They're e-book readers, I read a lot of e-books. The computer monitor is very difficult next to paper books. Which of these e-book readers mimics actual paper the closest? Paper books are much easier to read than on a laptop or desktop.
