Legally, does he have a leg to stand on?

My sister dated a guy for a year. During that year, he proposed to her (and she said yes), and used a Zales card in her name to purchase the rings. He bought her a Nook for Christmas and she got him a TV. When they split, he took the Nook back, but wanted to keep the TV. They reached the agreement that he would continue to pay off the rings if he could keep the TV, which she agreed to.It went fine for a month or two, but then he stopped making payments. She asked for the certificate of purchase for the rings multiple times since they were in her name, and he refused to give it to her. After 4 months of nonpayment, and warnings she would take her property back, his new girlfriend let my sister in the house and gave her the TV back. Now, 3 weeks later, he's threatening to call the police if she doesn't give him the TV and say it was a gift and she broke in and stole it. Legally, would that fly in court, especially since they had a business arrangement and he didn't hold up his end? How is it breaking in if the girlfriend let them in? Can the cops make her give it back to him?
