Does Barnes and Noble get books earlier than Amazon?

I've been wanting to pre-order a book for a while, but Amazon keeps changing its release date. The book in question is "Mr. Burns and Other Plays" by Anne Washburn. I could buy "Mr. Burns: a Post-Electric Play" on its own, but this collection includes Anne Washburn's other plays, some of which are quite rare, so it's a much better deal. Originally I believe it was supposed to release in December 2016, then it changed to March 1st 2016. It had stayed that way for a while, so I thought that was the definitive release date, but I check it today and now it's pushed back to May 17th according to Amazon which is much too late because I have to read it before the end of this semester. Barnes and Noble and Books a Million still list it as shipping on March 1st however so I'm considering buying it from one of those sites unless they're releasing it in May too and just haven't changed the date yet.
